| I recently got my id card to go to this facility in Wake County. When would be a recommended timeframe that it is open to the public that I could avoid waiting on crowds. The range is a bit far form me so I'd like to make sure a visit there is definitely worth it when I go. |

I went last Thursday night and it was way more crowded than I liked. Had to wait about 45 minutes for a lane, and then took an ejected 12 guage shell to the face from the fool in the lane next to me. I asked one of the range officers about the crowd and he said Tuesday nights are less crowded. I will try that night next time.

| I've been going to the Wake range for many years, it used to be easy to get range time with no waiting. Now it seems its usually busy, I think with no annual fee and only $10 to shoot its pretty cheap. When its cold or rainy outside it seems like the range is busy, its a big advantage of an indoor range. You can call ahead and see if there is a wait at the range. |

Here are my tips for the range: - avoid holiday/vacations, seems obvious but it seems like when kids are off school its bisier - if you can go tues or thurs it should be less crowded, seems weekends are busier - I find its less busy later in the session, maybe because people have used all their ammo Even when its busy, you should talk with the Range officer, they are volunteers and usually are mainly looking safety issues. One time I got in the range and had to wait 30 minutes for the range to go cold to set my target. I think it was a new range officer. They don't do regular stop/start of each range, its usually by request from the shooters. For this reason you should bring big targets that will last at least 30 minutes. hope this helps, enjoy the range |
