Anyone know if owning/carrying a micro tech knife is illegal or against any nc laws?  Is there any blade length limits?  Any good resources on this?

Autos are a no-go as far as I know. I have a Benchmade auto that nobody will sell me a $2 spring for to fix, LOL. Why we can carry and gun but not a auto is beyond me. I carry a Spyderco Military now...

Technically following the laws you can carry an auto as long as its not concealed (visible upon your person) in most parts of the state.  There are some municipalities that have also banned them.

- 14-269.2... (d) It shall be a misdemeanor for any person to possess or carry, whether openly or concealed, any bowie knife, dirk, dagger... switchblade knife... razors and razor blades (except solely for personal shaving), and
any sharp-pointed or edged instrument, except instructional supplies, unaltered nail files and clips and  tools used solely for preparation of food on educational property [or to cause, encourage, or aid a minor to do likewise].

Not being an arse here, just looking for clarification. Thanks to all.

Clarification is easy. You have to look at the entire statute

§ 14‑269.2.  Weapons on campus or other educational property.

So under sub section (d)  you cant have the above on educational property.

What do you need a full auto knife for?

It's not good for hunting, I mean you can only stab one person at a time with it.

So it sounds like the only place it isn't legal is particular cities and educational facilities.  Correct?

Can you clarify this answer?

NOI, I believe he was trying to say a knife that can launch the blade out the front. By launch I mean the blade is a projectile, like a bullet from a gun.

Probabably is, but I like for people to look for the answer themselves.

NCGS says

14 269.6. Possession and sale of spring loaded projectile knives prohibited.

(a) On and after October 1, 1986, it shall be unlawful for any person including law enforcement officers of the State, or of any county, city, or town to possess, offer for sale, hold for sale, sell, give, loan, deliver, transport, manufacture or go armed with any spring loaded projectile knife, a ballistic knife, or any weapon of similar character. Except that it shall be lawful for a law enforcement agency to possess such weapons solely for evidentiary, education or training purposes.

(b) Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. (1985 (Reg. Sess., 1986), c. 810, s. 1; 1993, c. 539, s. 167; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c).)

This law is exclusively for the projectile knives that were on the marked 20 years ago. It was never intended for switch blades.
