Just had to walk back to the car and disarm. No weapons even with permit stated at front gate. Metal detection at two stages with RCSD wanding.  Just passing it along.

No carry means I wouldn't go, period. In addition to a gun, body armor would be a must. Seriously. Especially in that area of Spartanburg.

When did Spartanburg annex 90 miles to the south?

Stupid part is I could have put my AR in my wife's unchecked purse, daughter's stroller or backpack and cruised right in. The most frustrating thing is that if you aren't going to be thorough then only the honest will abide and that's a waste of resources, a decrease in safety and a waste of everyone's time.

It hasn't. The fair was in Spartanburg this past week; today was the last day.

Oh... I thought the SC State Fair was the one held in Columbia, which started on Wednesday.

The wife and I went Friday night.

With the Miranda Lambert concert about to start the lines were LONG at the metal detectors to get in.

So to speed things up, they just turned them off and moved everyone through!

Several hundred people went in completely unscreened.

Here's to consistency!  And if memory serves the majority of the issues have not been within the Fair itself but on the properties and parking lots around the Fair.

My "friend" walked in with "his" knife clipped to waistband instead of pocket. Detector hasnt gont off  last 3 years. I even wear steel toe boots that don't set it off. I mean he does.
