| When Nc declares this and they say you can't carry a firearm-say after a hurricane, how hard do they enforce this and what is the penalty if you get caught?I have to do a lot of work in these situations and always have a weapon handy. This is one of the times when a person needs a weapon the most.Of course carrying a weapon goes against our companies policy too,but better alive and unemployed. |
First things first: Sit down now and write your House Representative(s) and your state Senator asking them to review the law and to take that wording out of it, preferably all together out. The original intent, as described to me by a former representative, was to prevent the whole roving bands of armed thugs thing in the event of social unrest/civil disorder. That sort of scenario can be caused by natural events but they figured most citizens stay home in those times. Unintended consequences, he said. (ya think ?)
I believe its a misdemeanor the first charge. Someone will come along and clarify it I hope. It depends on where you live as to how it is enforced. Some places and police are just looking for a reason to nail someone on it. We all know where those locals are. Around here, I don't think it was enforced but the fact its there means it can be. Write that letter or email - the whole weapon clause needs to be removed. Period. |

You can reference HOUSE BILL 1241 for the 2009-2010 session.
HB1241 It addressed many changes for CHP that were needed. Ask that it get it resubmitted for the next session. |
