I live in Charleston and would like to kill some free time hunting coyotes. I have a 270 that would be perfect but I guess I just need some more information. Once I get my hunting license, can I just go into nation forest area (thinking Francis Marion) and start calling? Thanks.

So now they have opened the season on the coyotes that DNR turned out to help control the Deer herd. Wow another state gov. screw up and waste of tax payer money.
Go figure
Sorry Dude didn't mean to hijack your thread
Don't have a clue as to where the coyote hunting would be good, I know we have a lot of them around the Walterboro, Grover, St.George area.

The way it sounds from reading the DNR website is that it is open season year round. I talked to some deer hunters today at the range and they all said that the coyotes had been running the deer big time and they had all seen coyotes. I'm just hopping to get in on all this fun.

I haven't checked the regs but I know in WVA they use a bait pile to lure the yotes.
If you go to the forest be careful there are a lot of guys hunting that will shoot at anything that moves.
