What does it take to get a SBR in N.C.?  I'm not sure why it's such a big deal though but, I'm interested in getting one sometime.

You need sherriff's sign off, which may not be possible.

You need to put "reasearch and development" on your form 1 or form 4.  N.C. laws are kinda dumb, so you need to be doing some sort of research in order to possess one.  There are other ways, but this is the easiest and quickest for an average civilian.

You can also use a trust, check the class 3 forums under arms and tactics for details...

If you are also a Federally licensed collector you can qualify to get an SBR.

How would I obtain a receiver, or would I need to build from a flat?

I bought a stripped lower and built my own.  You will need to engrave it or stamp it.
There are full details in the class 3 forum, but a trust is the easiest and quickest route in N.C.

I didn't find anyone in Raleigh to be of much help finding a short barrel rifle to transfer, so I ended up just making one on a form one.

Did you get a parts kit I assume? I like the M92's pretty good.  I want a 7.62 instead of 5.45. Thanks  I remember a store in Greensboro about 10 yrs. ago that sold class 3 stuff. It was near 4 seasons mall.  I think on Pinecroft? and Vandalia.  I don't know what happened to it. It was there then it wasn't.  I think it was called the Alamo, maybe?

Are you refering to a Curio and Relic license? I know the sheriff in Cabarrus County won't sing off on a SBR. Are you saying I can get one with my C&R license?

Not sure but I don't think that qualifies.  I think I'm gonna go the revocable trust route.  It's a more hassle free method apparently.  I'm gonna try to make it by nov. 08' just in case.

Yup.

Read the law dealing with SBRs for more.
