what are the requirements and the best way to ship a firearm?  I know I need to have a signed copy of  an FFL from the location that I am going to ship to but how do I actually ship it.  Do I just pack it up in a box and walk into the Post Office or do I just take it to the UPS/Fedex?  What is best way to ship with the least amount of hassle?
Thanks

Handguns cannot go USPS from a private individual, they must go next day through a carrier. Long arms can be sent through the post office though.

Just to save yourself, well...the buyer, some trouble, make sure that the receiving FFL will accept transfers from an individual (i.e. non-FFL).  Also check and see if he needs a copy of your DL or anything like that for his log.

Some guys get a little picky.

No you don't. As an individual, you can simply verify their validity using their FFL number and going to the ATF EZCheck website.

Thanks for the quick answers.  So pretty much I make sure the place and am mailing the weapon to is a FFl, I pack the weapon up, and go to the post office.  I didn't want to walk in the post office with a weapon in a box only to find out it was not legal to do.  Thanks again
