Anyone in NC shoot at Range 1 in Bunnlevel/Lillington? I live in Raleigh and am itching for a place to shoot my AR somewhere other than Davi's.

I've been shooting at range 1 for 6-7 years.  It's not bad but it's not the best. My folks live near Raleigh and I live in fayetteville so range 1 is about the half way point on 210hwy.  The benches in my opinion are at the wrong height and there are no sitting positions unless you bring your own stool or chair.  There are large foam blocks that are intended for sitting I assume but serve no practical use.  The place gets real muddy when it rains so where shoes you dont mind getting dirty and cost is around 13-15 dollars to shoot all day.
Durham pistol and rifle club has a really good looking setup in Mebane.  But membership is kind of steep and its quiet a ways to drive.  My dad frequents Sir Walter gun club on Creedmoor Rd with a buddy of his.  It also has much better facilities.  Maybe you should check it out if you have not already.  Depending on where in raleigh you are range 1 may not be worth the drive.  Its a decent place to bust caps for an hour or two regardless.

Hope the info helps

Yeah I'm not so impressed with Davi's myself, gotta take a shower after being in that place.

been going to range 1 for around 10 years of and on. not the best place for rifle sight in or precision shooting. but it is outdoors which i prefer and its 15 dollors for all day plus you have to buy targets from them if you are a non member. its a decent place to test your gun or magazines. they also offer classes on combat pistol shooting. i was there yesterday actually. the choices are limited for outdoor shooting around here. the range in creedmoor is excelent. but you have to be a member or know someone that is a member and go as a guest.

Thanks guys, I'll probably go check it out later this week.

The Creedmoor range sounds great (it's only like 10 minutes from my house), but I understand joining isn't that simple... Any members here that can fill me in on the details?

By Creedmor I take it you mean Sir Walter Gun Club?

It's a long, long ways for me. I used to drive my oldest daughter up for their junior shooting classes. She enjoyed it but man what a ride.

It's a nice facility but a little on the $ side. But then, what Gun Club isn't these days?

I went to Range 1 for the first time a week or so ago.  It was just me and one other guy there shooting.  Not the best but not the worst by far.

Even durning the mid day heat it was cooler than Davi's.

If memory serves it was 165.00 a year for durham pistol rifle club

www.dprc.org

been a member for over 1.5 yrs now, once the above membership fee is paid I can
shoot all day 365 days for no extra charge, nice club house, 1,2, and 3 hundred yards
rifle range, pistol pit in horseshoe shape w/approx 15 foot berms, intermediate 50yard
ranges(2) for ar's, handguns whatever. They have nra rifle competition shoots etc... all targets are free, several fridges in strategic locations stocked w/soft drinks and water - put your $$ in the kitty, simple and great place to shoot pretty much anything unless your a skeet freak, .50 or full auto. They do have a basic type of skeet thrower machine but i haven't tried it. I love the place! Haven't tried the others except pdhsc which was also excellent but only 4 handguns, just 4 reference pdhsc is 200 per yr for a
gold membership and $1 per target,  my .02 ymmv

Blackops_1.

edit- of course everything is outside and the shooters positions are covered, benches and chairs provided

Thanks for the info! Sir Walter is a good bit closer, but I can probably still be to your club in under 45 minutes from my place. Will have to check it out.

Love PDHSC! I've been a gold member there for six months now, great people and the best gun prices I've ever seen.

I'm going to check out both... looks like I have to wait a few weeks for orientation meetings for either.
