Alright, let's try this again

The next Tactical Rifle Match will be held at the Carolina Star near Aiken, SC on August 6.
Registration for the match will begin at 0830, with a safety briefing to
be held at 0900, and shooting to begin immediately thereafter.  The match
will consist of three COF's, with a minimum round count of 70.  Targets will
consist of standard IDPA silhouettes, bowling pins, and steel plates; steel
plates and bowling pins will be scored "up or down", and IDPA targets which
will require a minimum of two scoring rounds, will be scored per standard
procedure.  The fee for the match will be $17.

The first COF will be our standard "warm up", but with a little more action.
The shooter will engage bowling pins, and steel plates positioned between
30-35 yards while activating two NO-SHOOT bobbing targets and engaging the
four IDPA targets behind them.

The second COF will be an engagement drill consisting of three IDPA targets
and steel plates placed at 75 yards.  The shooter will engage each of the
three IDPA targets with a minimum of two rounds, perform a mandatory reload,
and re-engage each of the three IDPA targets with a minimum of two rounds.
The shooter will then perform a second mandatory reload and transition to
the prone position to engage the steel plates.

The third COF will be a Shoot House which will consist of "Lots of Friendly
Faces."

Hope to see you there.

The next Tactical Rifle Match will be held at the Carolina Star (www.carolinastar.com) on October 1, 2005.  Registration for the match will
begin at 0830, with a safety briefing at 0900, and shooting to begin
immediately thereafter.  The fee for the match will be $17.  The match will
consist of three COF's, with a MINIMUM round count of 60.

The first COF will be a barricade stage.  Targets will be IDPA silhouettes
and steel plates, and will be engaged from "point blank" to forty yards.
This stage will include a spinning target and hostages.

The second COF will be our distance stage.  Targets will include bowling
pins, steel plates, and IDPA silhouettes, that will be engaged from 100
yards from the prone position.  This stage will require thirteen scoring
rounds, and the shooter will be limited to a maximum of twenty rounds fired.
Bonus points will be awarded for head shots on the IDPA targets.

The last COF will be a shoot house type room clearing drill.  The shooter
will use cover while engaging IDPA silhouettes at contact to 15 yards.

All stages will be shot "vickers count" unless otherwise noted.
Our standard "one gun / one optic rule is in effect".

ABSOLUTELY NO STEEL CORE AMMUNITION

Firearms and gear will be available; we ask that you bring new, commercial
.223 cal. ammunition for use in these guns.

Hope to see you there!

www.range-1.com has pretty regular three-gun and defensive pistol matches.  Although every time I make it back it seems like the three-guns are on there way out.  Alot of the time only 6-7 shooters show up and it's hard to justify the costs at that number of shooters.  Anyways give 'em a try most of his three-guns have a twist to 'em.

Our staff photographer was MIA for this match, but I did snap a few pictures of two of the COF's just because they were so E-V-I-L.

The targets on the cross bar in the second pick were on a spinner...."Volume of fire" was the catch phrase of the day.

The barrels in the last pictures were stacked to form a port from which all tagets had to be engaged, but I unstacked them so you could see the target array.  NONE of the hostages survived.
I hope that they were "COLLABORATORS".

I didn't get any pitures of the 100 yard stage, but suffice it to say that bowling pins are very small targets at that distance.

A big thanks to all of those that came out to shoot the match!

I've had many inquiries into when the next rifle match was going to be held, so if there's enough interest, we're going to have a "Show Off Your New Toys" after Christmas match.  The match will be scheduled for Saturday, December 31.  The match will be hosted by the Carolina Star.  Registration will be at 0830, with a safety briefing at 0845, and shooting to begin at 0900.  We're still playing around with the COF, but we promise to have you home in time for the New Year's festivities.

Stay tuned for more information.....

Looks like Wilkeboro is the closest 3 gun
match for me. About 2-1/2 hours. Oh well,
the price of having fun, I guess.
Here are my questions:  Are the long guns
typically CIII, or are semi's welcome & not
laughed at? What king of gear, as in mag pouches
for the rifle mags? Do I need a vest, or will my back
pockets be OK? I have pistol gear, but I have no idea
about the long gun paraphernalia.
Lastly, is there a schedule for '06 yet?

Tarheel 3 gunners in Wilkesboro
has their '06 schedule on their
website. April 22 is the next
3 gun match. I'm booking that
date as unavailable!
I still would like some input
on the recommended gear.
Thanks,

Johnny C!

Just a reminder that the Tactical Rifle Match is tomorrow morning at the Carolina Star.  Registration will begin at 0830, with a safety briefing at 0845, and shooting to begin PROMPTLY at 0900.  The match fee is $17, and our standard rules apply:

1) One gun - One optic : You must shoot the same rifle, in the same configuration thoughout the entire match.  Gun failures will be handled at the descretion of the match director.

2) ABSOLUTELY NO STEEL CORE OR AP AMMUNITION!!!  If it's even questionable, don't bring it.  We shoot steel in our matches and rounds that would damage the steel are both dangerous and expensive.

We're going to try and work in four COF's for this match, with targets from contact to 100 yards.  The minimum round count for the match is 60.  we'll have guns and gear available for those that need them.  We ask that you bring new, commercial .223 ammunition for use in these weapons.

Hope to see you there!

Sorry The bosses wants all paying matches in one thread. Thanks for taking the time to post your three gun info though.

it makes it SOOOO convenient for the paying members that have to sort through all of the information on matches that have already been held / matches their not interested in shooting, to find a match announcement.

I agree.

I don't want to have to dig thru matches all over the Carolinas, many of which are more than 8 hours from my house.

I'm a paying member.

i THOUGHT THE PURPOSE OF TEH HOMETOWN FORUM WAS TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO GET TOGETHER.

That doesn't tell WHEN the matches are, who to contact, match fees, what kind of match.

The only thing it tells me is what I already know - where the matches are.
