guys I need a favor and forgive the direct approach but after the last show i need help i need suggestions on what you guys would like to see on my tables. I am a very technical person if you tell me what you guys tend to buy I will stock it I have for years focussed only on rifles and smith work and payed little attention to inventory flow that needs to change since I am tryinfg to expand so any input from all of you my customer base is appreciated either IM or reply to this either way and please be candid in your remarks I am not objective on my set up or display. I think putting those starlight cases out is a good idea. I would like to see more low end stuff (under 20$) but hey you know I'm kinda cheap. How about more info on your gunsmithing services? I expect several people need stuff done and would rather deal with someone local. Also don't forget to price everything and have plenty of business cards out. I think the gun shows will pay off as more of an advertising strategy than in straight sales. Just my .02 -JR |

Maybe some more doodads and gizmos? Not crappy stuff, but inexpensive things like the O-ring extractor, LULA, Delrin receiver blocks, Mag-Cinch take down tool, high quality slings, grips, rail covers, etc. I'm not sure what your profit margin might be on these kinds of things, but I typically pick up a few odds and ends like this at any show I go to. Hope this helps. |

Hi Red, I am an amateur in firearms, but have worked in retail for almost twenty years. 1- You could design a flyer/catalog, giving general prices for the work that you do. This could cover all work you do on AR's as well as more tactical precision rifles. You could leave them at some of the area ranges as well as some of the gunstores. Staple your business card to them, and give them out like candy.hug.gif 2-Everybody stocks Blackhawk, but how about SOTech, Tactical Taylor, Arktis, Maxpedition, Kifaru. Stuff you have to have medium to heavy inventory on, but would sell quick either at a gunshow, or as something you could sell off of your website or at the shop.hirties, 4-Parts, Parts, Parts I hope this helps! Info out! |
This is the Mag Cinch tool I use almost every time I disassemble my rifle. Mag Cinch Tool I was just suggesting little things/tools like this, "nice to have stuff" that's under $20 or so. |

Hi Red- Stopped by your table in Raleigh, but didn't introduce myself. You had a good selection of stuff out already. For my gun show shopping needs, I'm always looking for build parts for my latest project. Anything from optics (ACOG, Aimpoint, IOR, Nightforce), FF rail systems (LaRue, Troy, DD). A lot of dealers carry KAC rails, but I don't like them. Optic mounts are usually in short supply (again, LaRue, ARMS, KAC) as well. PRI, YHM and Troy BUIS, vertical grips (TD, KAC, SOG), and always tactical stocks (LMT SOPMOD, VLTOR) with mil-spec tubes. I know that's a big list, and some high-dollar items, but if you can stock maybe one at a time and be close to competitive with mail order, I have no doubt that it will move. Just my .02 Thanks!

Well I have put your name out to a few friends, having us around to help you gain buisness is a plus. Are you coming to any of the Charlotte area shows? If you do, I will come and check out your stuff. Oh, once I return from Florida, I will be sending you my AR upper to change out the FS. Sorry I havent gotten back with you earlier then that, but its a 2 week trip there. Maybe show differ FS and give pricing for installation, and take pics of some of the work you have done so people can see your skill. When I send you mine, you can take all the pics you want and use it for advertising. Thanks again in advance Red. |
