Just ditched it and went back to 7 about 10 minutes ago.

I thought one of the MAIN reasons to have a computer was efficiency , so WHY move everything tha users are accustomed to , to a different location.

I sure wish car mfg would change the position of the majority of the controls every new model year.

I'm REALLY tired of the accel -right side and brake on the left.

I have a friend like you...  He hates change.  He's also nearing 70.

I use Linux, PCLinuxOS specifically. I've been Windows free with a few exceptions since 2005. The few Windows programs that I need I use XP in a virtual machine on my Linux box.

I've had a lot of success with it so far... The right-click menu on Start is amazing, and covers a huge portion of the administrative work I do--greatly improved since 8.1. Compared to 7 there are a ton of improvements, and some regressions I am living with until they fix it.

I have heard that when migrating to W10, you are required to give MS access to all your files.

Is that true?

If it is, is there any work around?

Thanks

Windows 10 spies on you by default. Here are a few links to read:

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/76832/20150817/windows-10-user-data-sent-to-microsoft-even-when-privacy-protection-is-on.htm

http://www.windows10update.com/2015/06/is-windows-10-at-the-intersection-between-user-privacy-and-personalization/

And now Microsoft is sending out updates for Windows 7 and 8 that spy on you too:

I am in the process of switching everything over to Linux. I'm done with Microsoft

I've tried Fedora, RedHat, and Ubuntu in the past.  They just never could do all of the things that I do on Windows, or I'd be running Linux as well.

I doubt it unless you get it to run in WINE.  It's been so long since I have messed with any CAD programs that I don't know of any good ones that run in Linux.

This.  I took a try at it but Linux requires an adjustment to how I do things and some aspects I have to give up that I guess I'm just not willing to.
