| Gonna be down in Springfield all next week taking a class. Any particular places to check out as far as food or drink goes, or other things in the area worth seeing? Areas to avoid, anything to know? |

Quoted:
Bass Pro is a good place to kill an hour or two. Several local gunshops in town but I don't know if that would do you any good unless you want to mess with the hassle of shipping/transfer. Transfers aren't an issue. Any places that frequently have C&R or milsurp stuff? |
| If you partake in adult beverages, we have 3 breweries in town. White River(my favorite), Mother's and Springfield Brewing Co. The first 2 have only tasting rooms. Springfield Brewing is also a restaurant. It get pretty lively downtown around the Square area on the weekends. Usually there's good live music being performed somewhere in town. As mentioned above Bass Pro along with the NRA museum that's inside there. Short drive south to Branson and the lake front. The Ralph Foster museum that's on College of the Ozarks campus. There's a decent firearms collection at the museum. Lots of eating establishments local & chains. |

Food-
Casper's for Chili. Whole Hog BBQ, but BBQ is personal stuff, one mans good eating is another man's dog food. Grad School, second hand from everyone that they have great burgers. Lambert's in Ozark if you have a family group. Haruno Sushi, actually very solid Sushi for fly over country. FD Grill, second hand that they are decent. Digacento's Italian on Campbell south of Bass Pro. Fire and Ice for Cashew Chicken. Places to avoid- Downtown is getting more sketchy, still not near as bad as the big urban areas, but not small town America by any stretch. I don't go down there much. |

Jin's Korean -- everything on the menu is completely awesome, but the local health inspectors won't let them make some of my more favorite Korean dishes
Gem of India -- they make a ghost pepper curry if you're done with life and you don't want to check out easy Bangkok City -- I have not been able to check out the latest incarnation of this restaurant. However, they used to make my favorite version of both Kang and Panang out of all of the Thai places that I've ever been to. There's an arcade downtown (1984?) that once you pay the cover charge ($5?) you can play all of your old favorite arcade games 'til you realize that PCs are where it's at. There's an army surplus store just north of the square that is not one of the common, modern ones filled with Chinese camping equipment. It's more like a museum where everything is for sale. The Bass Pro catalog outlet (just south of the main store) may or may not have good deals on stuff you may or may not want. My last trip in there I spent $15 and got a bottle of JT no-fog for my range safety glasses, a CAA loader for AR mags, and a bottle of TW25B (although some weird NRA formulation). All of it new-in-the-package. They had a boatload of optics (some obviously of terrible quality) in there at the time, so they probably still do. There are quite a few large consignment antique/junk stores. There are definitely some finds in them. Grizzly has a display of some of the owner's personal firearms and a set of table with chairs that should probably be seen. There are many gun stores and pawn shops that carry guns in the area. If you're from out-of-town and think you might want to buy something, I'd recommend going to Ozark for Doc Holliday's. Last time I was in there they had an M1 Carbine in a Fajen stock that I really liked, but it had a sign of trauma on the receiver that I didn't know what to make of. The Andy Dalton range (state-ran) is just outside of town. Fudd rules, but it keeps it safe. |
| If your looking for a good breakfast place theres a new one that just opened called the Early Bird Breakfast Pub right at Cherokee and Glenstone. Awesome breakfast and booze (big fan of the chocolate stout and 90 Schilling). I can also second Grad School as a awesome meal. The steak burger is awesome there. |

Guns:
Loftis Pawn just north of BPS. Kelly's Police and Tactical west of BPS on Sunshine. 417 Guns and Cherokee Gun are both worth a look. Food: Rosati's Pizza (Chicago style), 5 Spice (Asian), Aunt Martha's Pancake House (greasy spoon breakfast, I had written this place off until I went back recently, good corned beef hash), Buckingham's BBQ north glenstone (I personally prefer it to Whole Hog Cafe, try both), Andy's Frozen Custard (try the Cookie Casanova, thank me later), Farmers Gastropub (voted best English pub outside of the UK, excellent food) I second some of the others mentioned: Caspers (extremely limited seating, avoid the lunch crowd, cash only) Grad School burgers (worth going downtown for) |

Does Kellys police and tactical sell guns?
Last time I was in there it was only gear but thats been probably a year ago. Cherokee firearms was salivating at the thought of a universal background check so he could charge everyone 60 dollar bgc fees if they used his shop for private transfers. I bought a gun from them once and thought they were pretty decent until that conversation. Eagle pawn on Battlefield has a decent selection of used guns at fair prices usually. They also do free transfers so I like to throw their name out as much as possible. Good group of guys in there. Armed sources is a small shop that had some cool stuff last I was in there. a Norinco 9mm off the top of my head. Looks like these other guys named off most of the classier places in town but we also have a Hooters in town if you like crappy food and kind of scantily clad women serving beer. Im down to buy a few rounds. |

I forgot about Eagle Pawn, I haven't bought a gun from them but they carry a lot of Magpul gear considerably below any place else, including online. As for Armed Source, I bought an HK VP9 LE from there on monday, nice guy. |
