There will be lots of does at the bars still. Best night of the year for scoring a nice rack. No bag limits and no minimum restrictions on rack size or caliber used either. Nun. |

No joke there !!!
I wish I could have been out there earlier in the week before the temps climbed. Thurs. I saw two nice bucks chasing does... 6 deer total... And Friday's warm up seemed to have shut them down. Didn't even care to hunt in these conditions, so I came home early. |

Got him! Cheapsandwich and family came over and we were sitting on the porch waiting for the does that usually come out and this nice nine-pointer walked out into the yard at 75-80 yards. Oh well, I guess I just gotta shoot him. 300 BLK; 16"; Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP set at 10X; 125 gr Nosler BT over 16.8 gr H-110. http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=58185 Nice! Yeah it was windy over here. Felt like I was on a roller coaster while in my ladder stand.
Saturday morning brought out a doe and her two fawns that have been hanging around this fall. Didn't want to scare off any of the bucks in the area so I let them walk. Sure enough a buck comes out on the back side of my field. 200 yard shot, no problem. Look him over and then I notice the problem. Not enough points.
Tonight was the ride from hell in the stand. Constantly worried about widow makers crashing on my head. Just after sunset the doe and two fawns come out at the back of the field. Level the rifle on her and figure what the hell, might as well make meat. Not to be as I could not keep the cross hairs on her long enough to press off a shot. So I settle back to watch them. They walked up to about 35 yards out and just sat there looking in my direction. I couldn't even fart. They hung around till well past dark.
Oh well, next time. |

Skunked myself so far. I did take my 6 year old son out Saturday for the first time.He did really well setting still and being quiet, next we will work on doing both at once. My SO and son both finally got to shoot my AR. Huge grins all around and the SO has requested her own now. Looks like Ive found her wedding gift. |

They hung around till well past dark.
