I posted this over in GD (ah I can't believe I put anything in there) but figured I would put it here also. This is in regards to NY passing the strictest AWB yet.
Two things bother me about this other than the obvious. 1. The NRA. I am a member and instructor but must say I am very disappointed in them so far. They are receiving massive new registrations yet I have not seen a single ad on TV, not heard a single ad on the radio, nothing. Yes they work behind the scenes to talk to lawmakers blah blah blah, but I've yet to hear of anywhere in the country where they are running ads showing the other side. Is it so hard to run an add or two to maybe try and fight back? Over and over again I have seen this, I can't remember the last billboard ad, TV ad, or radio ad from the NRA. I would think considering they will be losing a TON of money as all this goes through from members who will never want anything to do with them, you would think they would do something. I get that they can only do so much, but how about doing something that your members can see being done.... How about doing something that will maybe make some on the fence or "i don't care" people think and maybe get them outraged too would be a decent idea. Are ads of any type gonna stop the NOBama crew from executive orders...no...however it may gain us some support from the undecideds and more support never hurts. 2. Where are all the people that were (and some still are) posting MOLON LABE, from my cold dead hands, etc? THIS is why NObama knows he can do whatever he wants. Because when it really comes down to it, maybe 1% of the people who say these things actually mean them. He's not an idiot, so he will make everyone felons who keeps anything but a revolver or bolt action 22, step by step slowly taking away a little more, and 99% of people will comply. They wont chance being a felon etc so they will say well I don't really need that AR and I don't want to be a felon, and well what can I really do..then they will turn them in or hide them somewhere where they mine as well be turned in. Then it will be well you don't need those hi-cap magazines so turn them in...and people will say yeah I guess I can just buy some 10 rounders for my handguns and that's still 10 rounds. Step by Step it slowly works as people voluntarily turn in their guns or hide them to never be used. Why would we expect any different, I see so many that talk a big game, but in reality its already started, and what are 90% of the replies, "well I'm not re-upping my NRA membership" or "I'm moving as soon as I can" etc. I'm not gonna say I know what to do, because hes not so stupid as to say all military and PD start going door to door and taking guns, because he knows that will start a war and make it difficult, instead you get people to do it themselves by threatening them with felonies, jail time, massive fines, etc However I think everyone needs to take a serious step back and realize what IS happening. Not what could, or whats happening over there, etc. But what IS happening already. Just my .02 |
