This what I sent to both Senators and my congressman.  I fully expect to get canned responses from all three.

I am writing to urge you to uphold and protect the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution.  There are calls from the media and a whole host of other places for gun control.  When the facts are that out laws and policies did their job in denying the CT shooter.  In the end the shooter got his guns like so many other criminals get them, by theft.  Punishing law abiding citizens for a crime they didn't commit isn't right.  It is truly sickening to see how both sides of the isle and the media are using this tragedy to further a political agenda.  So, again I urge you to vote no on any and all ANTI 2nd Amendment bills that will be put forth based on emotion and not fact.

Thank You for your time,

I have a feeling lacy clay will be burning a cross in my front yard before he gives a single shit about my opinion.

I'll do it anyway.

Then I'll run against the cocksucker and lose 99.7- 0.3

Yep, here is the first response.  Danced around and didn't answer.

Dear mustangracer,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the terrible shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.  I share your shock at this incredible tragedy.

As the father of a young son and grandfather to six children under the age of 10, I am horrified by this incredible act of violence against defenseless children and the teachers who were trying to protect them. Like all Missourians, I'm very worried about our kids' safety.

We must have a serious national discussion about preventing these kinds of senseless acts of violence and protecting our children in their schools, and that should include a discussion about finding ways to spend federal dollars more wisely when it comes to treating and identifying people who are mentally ill and intervening before they do something that tragically impacts their lives and the lives of others.

There are no easy answers here. The families in Newtown are still mourning, and this is not the time to have political arguments or a knee jerk reaction from Washington.

Like you, I am shocked by this incredible tragedy, and I hope all Americans will join me in praying for the victims and their families after this horrific and senseless act of violence.

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
United States Senator

He is right that now is not the time to have political arguments or knee jerk reactions, but thats not how the people who want more gun control will look at it. Never let a good tragedy go to waste.
