My wife has decided she wants to get her permit and get a dedicated carry pistol. I was wondering how some of the ladies you know handle this situation. What handgun? How do they carry? Purse, waistband, stuff it in the cleavage , etc.?I'm going to let her "try on" a few different pistols and make her own decision on what fits her best but I'd mainly like to know her best options to carry it. |

my wife used to carry at 4 o'clock position with a crossbreed supertuck for her HK p2000sk. She traded hk for Sig p238 and has tried appendix carry and 4 o'clock but prefers the flashbang.
My wife is petite and thinks IWB is too bulky with some of her wardrobe. Purse is not an option as we have a small child and purse can be separated from person too easily. |

I couldn't agree more about the purse. My wife is thin and about 5'10" I was telling her about the flash bang. If I get to take her gun shopping & bra shopping in the same day I will die a happy man. |

The two major things to look for in a self defense gun is fit and function.
Fit: Does the shooters hand fit comfortably around the grip and can they reach the trigger without changing their grip. Function: Can the shooter operate the controls of the gun (Safety/Decocker, Magazine Release, Slide Stop) without removing their hand from the firing grip. The more movement a person has to do to operate the controls the more training will be required to accomplish said task. Female carry options will depend on body type, size and weight of gun. Body retention is better in most cases then off-body retention. But, dependent on body type on body may not be fees-able. My wife does not carry on a regular basis (Walter PK380) but has used both the Purse carry and Smart carry methods. |

What is this flash bang you speak of? I hope this doesn't violate COC..... http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u211/starvinpilgrim/j-frame-flashbangweb_zpse802415a.jpeg I have that holster available for you if you're interested. She is welcome to shoot my wife's Airweight w/CrimsonTrace grip and Apex springs installed. She might even like how my M&P 9's shoot w/ Apex goodies installed. Let me know if you're interested. I'm on the east side of MO. I am not sure how that would effect the logistics of things. |

She insisted on shooting it with duty rounds. She no longer thinks it is a good CCW piece for her. My backup is a Smith 340PD with .357 Speer Gold Dots. Sometimes you can tell them until you are blue in the face, but they just have to learn on their own.

My wife loves shooting her Airweight. The CT grip has some kind of spacer at the top on its blackstrap that makes I comfortable.
I also made sure she grips it properly ( high ). I saw a pic of a chick shooting one a few months ago where she was holding it really low. I'm sure you were able to show her the proper technique, but I just thought I'd throw our experience out there. |
, etc.?
