Looking for something around Springfield that is outdoors and NON-STAFFED. Im looking for a low-key range to practice moving and firing and reloading drills without the public eye watching me constantly.
A simple area with a backstop is all I need. |

Quoted: Pleasant Hope CA. Quoted: Looking for something around Springfield The only open and non-staffed range I know about anywhere near Springfield is Busiek which is south of SPFD down 65. Hang a left in to the Busiek forest preserve/park and follow the frontage road. It goes south along 65 then hooks to the west under 65. You'll pass a gravel pit on the left. Last I remember the road dead-ended at the range. Haven't been there in like 5-6 years so I honestly couldn't tell you if it's still there, although I heard a few years ago they renovated so I'd imagine it is. |
I consider Pleasant hope close to Springfield.
Really from the north side of town it's not that far, probably 15-20 minutes. I went to Busiek once and left before I got a chance to shoot. It was wide open and full of people. With Pleasant hope you are kinda tucked in a corner down a hill, which makes it feel more secluded, even when there are people there, which I like. That said I need to really jump out of my lurker shell and we should put on a SPFLD and surrounding area hometown shoot. Thanks, Little_bo |
| It is still there. It is a decent range. It is unmanned but you arent going to be able to run any drills. Maybe reloading and such but not movement. Shooting is done at the provided tables. They supply targets too. 25, 50, and 100 yard ranges. 2 tables per range. A lot of times there is a wait unless there 10am to 3pm on a weekday. Closed mondays. No clay targets, or shooting any other targets other than paper on the backstops. Have to watch your stuff sometimes while there are a few weirdies that shoot out there somtimes. |

He said "Pleasant Hope CA" and OP's location is CA, so I thought he was referring to a range there rather than here. Had no idea there was a town around SPFD named Pleasant Hope. I just assumed he just moved here. Not sure why he would post in the MO HTF about a california range. Maybe I gave him too much credit
