So, months ago, I bought a 5.45x39 Polish Tantal, 2 crates of 7N6, several mags of various origins (mostly circle 10 and circle 21), mag pouch,...

I've shot a little out of one spam can, maybe opened the other to put it into an ammo can, and the other crate is unopened.

Not really attached to it and I'm too lazy to keep cleaning this damned thing everytime I shoot it.

SOOOOOOOO, I'm wondering if it is time to sell everything in 5.45, or do you all think I should let the crisis buying continue to build up more???  I've looked online and don't find many of them available, and the ones I do find are in the $600-650 range. Ammo seems harder to find as well, and $300-350 per crate or more ($160ish for a spam can).

I think now is the time to hoard instead of sell.

Things will start going nuts (pricing wise) as we get closer and closer to the November elections.  If Obama gets his second term ––––- it should DEFINITELY be a seller's market on all things gun related!  [Yeah... I know –––– I'm stating the obvious shit here!! ]

Unless you need the cash to fund other addictions, I would hang onto it....it is not going to go down in value any time soon.

Kinda wanting a Bushnell CQB 1-6.5 first focal plane scope that's around $1400.......debating whether or not prices will actually be substantially higher in the fall....like enough difference  to slap myself for selling early. Bought the gun with the thought in my head that I would likely sell it once the new wore off....and it has.

Would you sell it as a pacakge deal or sell the ammo/mags by themself. I ask because I may be interested in the ammo/mags for the right price.

Also is the Tantal built with the original barrel or US made? Numbers matching? Is it a DCI made tantal receiver or a standard 74 receiver? Who built it?

These would be factors that determine if a collector is going to buy it at a high price right now or if you should wait for the panic buying.  I use to have a few Tantals but sold them all because they just sat in the safe while the Bulgarian 74s got to see the range.

I would probably try to sell as a package, but sticker shock would likely push alot of people away.

I need to count how much ammo I have at home and take a closer look at the Tantal. I swapped the furniture out for AK74 furniture with a Beryl top piece for the handguard. I have a feeling it isn't a collectible gun, but is alot more fun to shoot with the AK74 furniture than the wire side folder.

Some people like them. I traded one for a 1942 Springfield CMP correct grade Garand about 6 months ago. The Tantal was numbers matching, original barrel, about as nice of tantal as they come but still it was a tantal.

I know....but when you get an itch.....

Actually considering selling one of my .308 AR's, the Tantal, 5.45x39 ammo,......have been selling off small parts here and there as well.   May do some trading too tho, I kinda want a Glock 34, a Bushnell 1-6.5x24 FFP scope, more 9mm, more .223, more .308.......my tastes are just a little different right now I guess.

I say wait about 3 more months.

But I know how it is to want new stuff. Sell it now if you can't resist.

Not sure how soon I will sell.....may have everything listed tonight.

For the scope I dont need a ton, so I may list something that isnt subject to massive fluctuations in price.

Is it a Century Tantal or a kit build with the original barrel?  The Century Tantals have a stigma attached due to Century using the wrong barrels for years, even if yours shoots good I doubt it will ever gain much traction in market pricing.  If however it was a kit build that utilizes the original commy barrel, it will only gain in value as time goes by, the barrel ban has assured that.  Even though Century whored out Tantals, kits with the original barrels are fairly rare.  There is a glut in the market with '74 mags also.  I bought tons of them over the past few years in the $10-$15 range.  They are consistantly bringing in $25 now.  The ammo itself is still reasonable.  At $135 per 1080 rounds, the ammo is 12.5 pennies per round and is still the cheapest game in town for centerfire ammo.

Of course as stated above if Obama gets reelected all hell breaks loose and anything that goes bang will be worth a mint.

no idea....I would have to look at the barrel. Confirmed the barrel is a 5.45 barrel and not a 5.56 bore tho. Gun shoots pretty good. At Chad9mm's shoot I was hitting his furthest steel pretty effortlessly, 250-275yd ballpark I think.

I have several 30 round and I think a few that were higher capacity as well. Other than my Draco SBR, I'm just not a huge AK fan.

Keep it, especially if it's a good shooter.

They're not all that rare. I don't frequent other shops, so I'm not informed about what they tend to carry, but Gunner's Firearms typically has one in stock more often than not.

Also, if you want to profit from panic buying, the time to sell will be this fall.

Well....couldn't help myself. Listed the Tantal with 3,990 rds of ammo, 4 circle 21 mags, 2 circle 10 45 rd mags, mag pouch, bayonet, and bipod. Figure the first person to have $1000 cash takes it so I can have my scope now.

Also listed my Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10x56.

Have had some nibbles, but no takers yet.

got that stuff sold and picked up the 1-6.5x24 Bushnell SMRS scope I wanted, plus a Glock 34 and parts to customize it.......thought I was done......NOPE!

now I'm gonna have to list one of my .308 rifles (selling other one sunday) and my Benelli pump 3-gun shotgun to replenish my bank account after snagging another OBR.

I think I missed the boat on the 5.45 AKs.  Was wanting one for a while, cause the ammo was dirt cheap.  Then, forgot about them for awhile.  Then, recently I started wanting one again, but the guns and mags (especially the mags) are through the roof, and ammo is hard to find, and pricey when you find it.

Have you seen the price of 5.45 mags lately? Going for $50 each.
I have about 30 of them might need to sell a couple off.

Are we prepping for a China, Russia or both ?

P-Mags are still plentiful.

5.56 ammunition and components seem easy enough to find.

Quality AR parts might require some effort but I had no problem finding all the upper parts I needed last month. Used brand new factory Colt upper.

Used and new ARs are everywhere.

I say sell. Especially anything steel cased. Pretty sure there's a special place in hell for those who shoot steel cased. Especially those who leave spent steel cases on ground.
