I have completed my lower receiver for another .308 build with a 6-position tube, Slash heavy CAR .308 buffer, DPMS 308 carbine spring, Magpul CTR stock, LWRCI single stage trigger and DPMS LPK, Magpul MOE+ grip, Magpul ASAP plate.

Complete lower.....$560
-CMMG Billet Lower...$200 with tax from Black Rifle
-LPK....$50...piggy back order with Leanman at midway to save shipping
-Slash buffer...$135   (arguably not needed, but will be shooting suppressed)
-CTR and ASAP......$97 from Aeon Arms
-receiver tube and spring......$38 from MidwayUSA
-MOE+......$30 at SnapShots
-castle nut and mag release button......$10 (MAYBE, likely less!) at SnapShots

Here is what I currently have for the upper....($289)
-Troy TRX X-treme 13.8" handguard for high profile upper receiver  ($199 shipped)
-birdcage flash hider....will be replaced with AAC 51 tooth brake eventually  ($0...off my CMMG)
-YHM .750 gas block     ($0....off an old gun)
-SWFA SSALT scope mount that will fit either 1" or 30mm scope    ($0.....given to me by SWFA after a bolt issue with a mount I had)
-offset iron sights     ($90)
-Charging handle     ($0.....from CMMG when I put a BCM GF on it)

Here is whats coming for the upper half right now....($647) .(Plan is to have all of it around the end of next week)
-DPMS slick-side upper receiver (comes with no place to mount an ejection port cover, no charging handle, but is only version I can find in stock anywhere with a high profile) ($117 shipped)
-Rainier Arms select 18" stripped barrel (  $530......part of order with below, $260 alone)
-DPMS bolt carrier group (with barrel.....$250)
-midlength gas tube with roll pin.  (with barrel......$13)

I have a PRI .308 barrel wrench for mounting the barrel that I share with Leanman. Intending to get a cutting board to chop up for a homemade upper receiver block.

I'm going to see if I can play with a few 4x, 6x, and 8x fixed scopes for the optic. Prefer something with mils for elevation holds. Have looked at IOR fixed 4x and 6x offerings with CQB reticle that has mil subtentions below the crosshair. Like the size, not the eye relief or that goofy rubber eye piece.
Plan is to use for Heavy Metal Optic 3-gun, if the barrel happens to be a shooter as well, you never know.

Total without an optic is $1496..........compared to current .308 offerings I would say building is still a HAIR cheaper as I have a much better handguard, offset irons, better barrel, better trigger, better stock, heavier buffer, and grip/sling mount upgrades.  Rebuilding a DPMS Sportical from WalMart would result in around $200-300 more after paying tax. Buying a CMMG complete like they sell now (unfluted extra heavy barrel and cheap collapsible stock instead of PRS like on the one I bought from CDNN)....you would spend $3-400 more to have the same setup and it would still be a tank with the barrel profile.

We will see how it shoots soon I hope!

I am tempted to take the barrel to my gunsmith before mounting it to have the barrel cut to 16", re-threaded, and have the barrel worked over for accuracy with whatever voodoo he does. If the barrel shoots better than my CMMG....I may only need one of them when all is said and done.  CMMG is at GAP being tuned to run flawlessly suppressed and unsuppressed right now.

Why did I decide to have TWO 18" .308 gas guns???

BTW............asking if I am missing any key parts to finish the build. My friggin head is spinning after hunting down parts for a week now!

Bipod equals open class. I will use one for sight in and have a small rail piece on the TRX for it, but don't intend to use one. I have two Harris bipods with Larue QD mounts, so I'm covered there.

You need the shoulder thing that goes up.

I can't answer your why you need 2 question, but, if you ever decide you only want one, I'd be interested in the other one. I procrastinated and missed out on the CDNN/CMMG deal and have been kicking myself ever since.

Not going to use anything but a Magpul MS2 occasionally. Guns are layed on carpet or tossed in dump barrels in 3-gun, so slings just slow you down. I have a TON of sling material and parts to make my own slings now...so I may make my own for it eventually just to have.

Problem I am having right now is finding what I want in a scope!    Wanting something in a fixed 4x, 6x, or 8x with mil dots or mil subtentions below the crosshair without the scope being a giant piece of kit or a huge pile of crap.
SWFA offers a fixed 6x mildot that would be perfect, EXCEPT its friggin huge.
Leupold offers a few 4x and 6x scopes at a decent price, but they are all duplex reticles only.
IOR Valdada has a 4x and a 6x with a CQB reticle that has mil lines below its CQB reticle using a 2moa dot. It would be perfect, but it appears the eye relief sucks on them, and it comes with some goofy rubber eye piece.

I'm using offset iron sights for everything in close, so using a variable powered scope becomes less interesting to me since I would leave it at 4x or 6x anyways. In theory, a fixed power scope should be more reliable, I dont have to worry about the reticle only being accurate at one magnification unless I want to spend the funds on a FFP scope, and since nothing is changing the scope should be more reliable.

I'm half tempted to pick up a cheap BSA 8x mildot scope to try out, though I would prefer a 6x.

well.....if this new build is more accurate (my CMMG from CDNN shoots just a hair larger than 1/2" groups with FGMM 168gr ammo) than my CMMG, I wouldn't have a lot of use for two guns. For some reason, I dont think my $260 Rainier Select barrel will beat out that heavy monster of a tac-driving barrel tho.

Got the barrel, gas tube, and BCG in today. Rifle just needs the upper receiver now. It is coming together really nicely. I'm hoping its a shooter......it would be nice to have a gun just as accurate, but lighter!

I should have my CMMG .308 back from GAPrecision any day now...its getting "tuned" by them to run softer suppressed and still remain flawless unsuppressed.

Got CMMG back from GA Precision....shoots great, but bought an OBR anyways......have the CMMG sod without even listing it.

Does $1300 sound like a good price on the .308 I just built considering I have $1575-1650 into it and its barely been shot???
