You're a jerk, getting me addicted to those 1911's of yours . Had a blast today. Thanks again for letting me shoot your guns and for the good conversation at lunch. Hope we can do it again sometime.

Festus let me shoot 3 of his 1911's after we had lunch at Ria's.  The Colt was good, but that SA Operator was the best of the bunch and I had 0 issues firing it with my injured hand. Now, I got a damned itch to buy a 1911 after my M&P 40.

I hate 1911s.  They are like mistresses you can't get enough of or satisfy.  They will sing like an angel one day and spit on you the next.  Take em apart, clean em, tweak em and run em some more.  Just when you think all is well, back to the smith you go.

Dang...  I gotta find another one.

Ha !! Ha !!

If you'd bought a Glock you wouldn't need to see a smith.

The weird thing is the lighter  SA Operator had less recoil then the heavier 5" colt. You would figure the Colt would absorb more of it . Overall, the 45 is more manageable than I expected. I hit a good portion of the targets with a weapon that I did not sight in. I am definitely going to get a SA in the future.

Guns shorter so axis rests differently in your hand. It's perceived recoil you're feeling. The force of recoil is dispalcing differently than Government model.

Is that the case? I have seen the opposite, I.E. I have fired a M&P 40c and it had a lot more recoil than a FS M&P 40. Is it manufacture dependent?

That Springer is definitely a great shooter. Here's the shots of when I first took it out vs. the Champion before I bob tailed it. Both guns were shot at the same place, 30 ft from a rest. 7 shots each .

I blame 1911smith for my addiction. I might go do some shooting this weekend...

I still need an OWB holster for it.

Naaahh,

All 1911s are shit.

Don't buy one !!

I have it on good authority 92FS Beretta is the ALL TIME greatest pistol in the history of sliced bread, followed only by Glock.

My 1911s are so untrustworthy,  I have to keep a G19 holstered behind my POS 1911.

That Festus, he'll lead you astray.

Festus,

You'd do well to have me stand over your shoulder on night while doing that job. I spent 6 hours on my last checkering job that was " almost perfect."

It takes a jig for first vertical and first horizontal cuts. From there it's sweat, blood and pressure on file while praying you don't "jump" a line.

Now Festus you know  a couple of shots of whiskey will steady those hands. So just tilt the bottle back a couple of times and start in.

Just remember it's nothing a welder and a BIG file can't hide. Don't ask me how I know.
