I got the opportunity to get out of work a little early so I took advantage of the nice weather and went to the range. My main goal was to try out my new BALCS IIIA, and lvl 4 rifle plates. I just wanted to understand how to shoulder the rifle from various positions. That's a whole other review in and of itself. I just wanted to share this in case anyone ever runs across it.

You're right about the elbow pads. I'm ordering a different blouse this week.
I should have added all this info: Its a complete CMMG rifle. One of their early ones - serial # 5xx. I haven't looked at the LPK yet. Round count about 2,500 through it. It has a ramped carrier and rounded hammer. I didn't see any other damages. I did notice that my hammer pin was walking a little prior to this incident. I've only heard of this with 9mm AR's. I haven't inspected it in great detail yet. I'll look it over more tonight. The only recent change was I started used high temp axle grease on the carrier. |

Might want to scrap the thread and vid. The fed boys don't care if it is a parts malfunction that made it a FA weapon. not true, in fact they stated in the trial of the gentleman from up north (MI or WI i think) that had a 'malfunctioning' rifle that they wouldn't have cared until he loaned it to a friend and told the friend how to make it burp. Guns malfunction, sometimes they burp. The trick is doing exactly what OP did, identifying the problem, stop shooting until the problem can be corrected. Sig line applies here. |

Mine was doing that the first time I took it out to the range after I got the new upper. Turned out my springs were all wonky on the trigger pin, causing it to walk out Fixed it in about 2 minutes with a pocket knife and a punch
ETA: Pics inbound. Busted: http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/GrinPhotoDump/IMG_20120224_155243.jpg Fixed: http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/GrinPhotoDump/IMG_20120224_155811.jpg And yes, those are my knees, I was wearing my lounging/gunwerk shorts ![]() You are talking about the Trigger axis pin retention via the hammer spring, the Hammer axis pin is retained by the J spring in the hammer except on MATCH triggers. |

Yeah, what AFSOC said
It was causing my rifle to double due to lack of disconnector engagement. |
