Got to hit the range for a relaxing time shooting groups. Leanman joined me, and I will say that even though I do not have any pics of his groups from his EXTRA heavy bull barrel......I would recommend a serpentine fashion if for some reason he was shooting at you!

I think the prairie dogs will die in mass quantities this spring!     ......and if you pray, pray for coyotes this winter, cause we're gonna try to put a dent in their population!

It should be noted that all targets are LaRue printouts with 1/2" grid....NOT 1" grid!

50 yards......but with a .22!!!   I'm digging this little 16" Savage bolt action. With CCI Standard Velocity ammo....its quieter than farting into a pillow!

Got to settle in and shoot for groups with this bad boy finally......100 yards for it though!

LaRue OBR seems to really like this ammo!

This group surprised me more than any......I expected 1.5-2" groups from PRVI ammo, instead, it appears slightly under 1"

This group was my best, aside from the codl bore shot that was low left....I'm confident its good enough to kill a coyote! Ammo was the same 69gr Black Hills pictured above.

After Leanman left, I wanted to stretch my legs a bit before having to leave for an Xmas party......it isnt too far, but as far as I currently have.

Had alot of fun.......would be interesting to see how much lower my BP is after stress therapy thats this effective!

Some of those groups look better than the LaRue test target that came with your gun.  Very nice.  Mark may have job for you

The group with PRVI 69gr match was the same size as my test target. Didn't have any Federal 77gr match ammo available when I was shopping, or I would have tried it too.

Think Mark LaRue would pay in LaRue products and guns?

He might pay you in Dillo Dust

Pfffft.....already have 4 bottles of the stuff laying around! Grilled bacon wrapped chicken on the grill with some for lunch today....barely made a dent.

Side note.....I was pretty happy with the Savage .22......I usually consider .22 ammo to be fairly inaccurate, but it did great with both CCI standard velocity and did almost as well with Federal bulk pack. Results with Remington subsonics werent great, as expected, and results with Federal match ammo wasn't quite as good as bulk pack.....but seemed louder and maybe a bit hotter.  CCI Standard Velocity stayed subsonic in my 16" barrel, so it will likely be my hunting ammo of choice.

Had fun!!

I hadn't touched that bull barrel since it went in the case 16 months ago in south central South Dakota.   I was pleased with my groups with Fiochi 50gr ballistic tips.  I'll have to spend the coin on some match ammo and see what it can do.

The other rifle I shot was a freshly free floated ( thank you, Troy Black Friday Sale! ) 16" heavy barrel, previously a normal carbine with an MOE handguard on it.  I slapped the 1-4X Primary Arms scope on there, and viola' !!  Instant coyote smasher.  It did ok for a 4x scope.

Compared to the rig from Texas, it was outclassed.  Coyotes be jus' as dead, yo.

SUB_MG, we saw very little POI change with the 762SD, for your information.
