Those who have done this, does ATF require they be submitted on the "10 print" card you can get through them, or can you have them done digitally on a Live Scan machine?  Are there any rules about taking your own prints if your certified to do so? (LEO)  I don't even know if my department still has the old ink stuff anymore!  What have police or sheriff's departments done for you guys who have gotten prints for NFA stuff?

I know of people who have bought the ink kit and printed themselves and signed for it and it was accepted.
Last ones I did were done at the Holden PD With Ink.
The Cards that BATFE supplies are the standard Blue Cards and generally stamped for the FBI...
The cards I have are the Blue FD-258  "10 Print" with WVATF1100 ATF-FFLC Martinsburg WV stamped in the ORI box.
Not sure how you would submit the prints from the Electronic machine,

We have the ability to print out the "10print" card when they are done electronically...i can also put in the ATF's ORI number like is pre printed on the blue ones...dunno just seeing if anubody has had theirs done digitally or not.

My Sheriff's office always does them digitally. No ink to wash off!

I typically give my customers two FD-258 cards for WV with their form 4.  Some of my customers received digital finger prints from their PD or SD and they worked fine.

You can also roll your own if you work at a PD/SD.  I'm sure there are some individuals out there that roll there own as long as the prints come out good.

When I applied for my EA (Enrolled Agent) license with the IRS, I had to submit fingerprints.  The application packet the IRS sent me had the fingerprint cards, but I didn't want to pay the police department to take my prints, so I just used the black ink pad in my office and slapped down some marginal prints on the cards.

Either the IRS / FBI could read the prints I sent just fine, or they didn't do a very good job checking up on applicants.  Maybe the didn't even run the federal background check they claimed they would, but just wanted the prints on file just in case.  I guess I'll never know.
