Anyone tried the new Surefire mags?

Reviews, thoughts???

Someone asked me about them, I had not used or even seen them in person...

I think if I really need that kinda ammo, I'd just rock a Beta-C Mag....

Midway was out of them the first day they posted availability. I've promised my wife one of the 60 rounders.

The Beta-C Mags are notoriously fragile and unreliable, not to mention incredibly bulky for how much ammo they hold.  The Surefire mags are supposed to be much sturdier and more reliable.

I wanted to order a 60 rounder but Bravo is also out of stock. Guess I wait until the next round. Just curious to see how they work not interested in the 100 rounder

I'm a cheap bastid.  How many PMags or GI mags can I buy for the same amount of money?

well the 60 rounder is $129 so I would guess about 10 at an average of $12 - you certainly can find some for way less so this is just an illustration / example.

you are right in some why's about it being a lot of money for one magazine but it should be a lot of fun in FA mode.

Fantomas, that's kinda how my math was working. I was thinking I could get at least 10 30-round PMags and as many as 16 GI-types on sale.  That's a BUNCH more rounds on-target.  And I sure would hate to actually worry about dropping such an expensive mag on the ground when practicing/training.

That said, I wouldn't turn down one of the 60 rounders if it cost about 25-30% of what they're currently asking for them.

just for the record, the EE ROUTINELY has USGI mags for $5 or less, i just picked up 30 for $150 shipped

SO you can have 20-25 USGI mags or one 60rd mag?  I personally opted for more, however i will eventually pick one up if the prices come down, just for fun

ETA: I CANNOT possibly imagine any scenario i would need 60rds of 5.56 on tap short of Zombies, me being a civilian and all.  Possibly for competitions, but thats about it

Zombies....yes. I am going to buy a 100 round just for the cause next time they are in stock.

Anyone know if these will work with .458 SOCOM rounds?

It would be heavy but having 20+ rounds of 458 would be .
