Well, since Denny is from the KC area...anybody know why Global Tactical isn't in the Industry forum here any more?

I guess he decided to not renew his advertising spot here. I hope everything is fine and he is in good health, Denny is a hell of a good guy.

hope that helps

Thanks, my search for "Global Tactical" did nothing for me.

I hesitate to share...but my one interaction with him...total jerk.

(on the phone said, sure come by.  Once there, refused to offer even the barest beginning of customer service.  I just wanted to buy parts.)

*shrug*

Fouch is a nut .. but a good nut.

I dropped in one time to buy a barrel and he told me it would have to wait till he got back from lunch in an hour.   I liked the barrel I wanted but was not going to wait an hour while he went off to lunch.  I shrugged it off to him being either in a bad mood (which happens to all of us) , having a bad day  (which happens to all of us) , or just plain had too many people bug/call him before I got there (which I understand).  I also "heard" that Denny had been diagnosed with diabetes (?? IIRC ??) and was countering it all with diet and exercise.  The guy lost a LOT of weight and was a bit weak for a bit IIRC.

I AM NOT badmouthing Denny Fouch .. I like the hell out of the guy .. just sometimes you have to look at the other side of the situation.

I'd recommend meeting with Mike (works for Denny) for the parts purchase .. then you can get the stuff you want/need without having to bother Denny from a busy schedule for a cash parts sale!

Does he even still own the gun store? Last time I was by there it had a different name. I too have tried to buy parts there to no avail. They liked to keep GTS completely separate from Denny's Guns I guess.

The one time I did buy a gun there I had a great salesman who helped me out quite a bit.

Denny owns the building, Chuck owned the RETAiL sales, Chuck got in trouble with ATF. ATF pulled his license, so Chuck had to sell the buisness, the new owner named it SnapShots.

Denny leases the store front to the retail owner.

I've met with Denny once.  He seemed like a very nice guy.  We even talked about his pimped out hummer and the gas piston upper he recommends(can't remember the name right now).  I bought one of his bare lowers along with a set of KNS pins at the same time. He even let me sit in his office to fill out the paper work.

am I the only one who still kind of thinks of this shop as "Fred's"?

What happened to Fred L. anyway?

He still did gun smithing out of the back for quite a while after Chuck came to town.

I moved away from the K.C. area in '03 so I lost track.

Fred Lipowitz can do good work .. when he wants to.   I know people who have waited EXTREMELY long for him to do work and then the work is typically substandard.

He blew me off on work that was paid for (my dad's decision at the time) because he had "hunting guns" to take care of first.  I informed him that this work was for a hunting rifle (FN-FAL barrel work) and was met with a gruff attitude.

To me its a wonder the man has made a living working as a "smith" all these years.

Been there a few times to buy some parts and never had any issues. His secretary was pretty good looking too, if she still works for him.
