I live in Columbia and my shooting buddy and I are looking for a range that allow shooting past 200 yards.  Is there such a range with a 30 minute drive that is free?  If not, any private range that allows it and not cost an arm and a leg?  Thanks for the assist

Bucksnort in Marshall is 600 yards with a pit and target frames.
Membership is cheap and easy as I recall.
you get a code to the gate.

Little more than 30 minutes, though, but not bad.

Just checked, it'd be about an hour drive from Columbia to Bucksnort.

Green Valley also has a rifle range out past 250...
There WERE at one time plans for a 600 yard range there.
I do not know if that is still planned or abandoned.

I can't seem to find any membership info on the Bucksnort range. I have seen memberships to some shooting clubs like Osage Shooters but wanted to know if I could just use the range without the affiliation to a club. I read somewhere that the membership dues were $35/year. I wonder what the catch is!

I'm a member at Green Valley and Bucksnort. Bucksnort is like Mid-Missouri's best kept secret as it's not talked up like it should be. Green Valley has a rifle range that if you push your target into the berm it will sit at 265 yards. There's a gong at 200. Steel knock downs at 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 yards. They get moved around a lot so it changes. There is a 600 yard range that adjoins Green Valley but is privately owned by a Green Valley member and PD instructor. Permission must be obtained to use it. I've had permission for my son to use it when up from Texas. I don't think he extends use to many people. I'm thinking the only reason Roque4 had permission is because he's Army. I got the invite for him but didn't ask for my personal use. Membership to Green Valley runs in the neighborhood of 200.00 annually. It's worth it if you shoot a lot of pistol and short range rifle.

Bucksnort is 35.00 annually and 40.00 for family. It's primary purpose is hi-power competition. It has pistol range, 100 yard range and 600 yard range with berms at 100, 200, and 600 yards and the place is awesome !! Had a time getting enough info to join there. Phone numbers were a problem. Roque4 and I spent half a day there. It's the berries for 600 yard work. Simply awesome. Greg Merideth is your contact. cell 573-808-0277, home 573-636-6809.

Actually, on the 600 range, the berms are at 200, 300, and 600.  Just saying.

Dont plan to go to Bucksnort and shoot a 50BMG. From what I have heard, they do not allow a 50 BMG. But not sure about the 338 Mag.
