I have that same rifle. Fun little thing. Now it'll be fun & quiet. Give us a look at your threading job please. How did you set it up? Did you have th reduce the original OD before threading? Is the tail stock hole large enough for the muzzle to stick through? Did you cut the threads on a live center? |

Ran the barrel through the chuck center (3/4" vs 1/2" for the tailstock) Use a live center in the muzzle and then turned to OD to .498, switched bits and gearing then proceeded to thread. Every other cut I would back out the center and test fit a 1/2x28 muzzle nut to check for fit. Oh, ya got to remove the front sight to get it through the throughway. Good thing about this gun is that it breaks down. i just took it apart, remove the forearm and turn at a low speed. Really not that bad at all. I have the turning down pretty well, it is the threading I need practice (and lots of it) with. I did test it this AM, it worked. No baffle or end cap strikes and a much lower noise level. Now to thread my Marlin 881. |
