I thought some of you around the Hannibal/Palmyra area might be interested in this. I just got an e-mail today from Duane Long of Personal Protective Services that he is offering a 1 day AR15 Operators course. It will be 10 hours long on Saturday, July 17th at PASA Park in Barry, Illinois. It is a good opportunity to improve your AR15 skills and knowledge without breaking the bank! The class is limited to (8) eight students and will require 200 rounds of ammo and 3 magazines. You can contact him at ppsshooting @adams.net for further details. His website is ppsshooting.com

I took his 2 day AR15 Operator Course about a month ago and after two days and 750 rounds later I found Duane to be an exceptional instructor that loves to teach. I learned much from him and he helped improve my AR skill sets tremendously. Mr. Long is a veteran officer of the Quincy Police Department and is their armorer and firearms instructor with a rich history in firearms training. By the way if you decide to take the course don't forget to bring a small notebook for the AR15 tips and tricks you'll learn!

I have a class reunion that day. But once my kids get through an Appleseed shoot, I'd like to take them through one of these smaller(less than 500 round) courses with the AR.

Sorry I went out for a bike ride. Yes, it's $179 but when I took my class that included a year's membership to PASA park; I'm not sure if that is true for this class you''ll have to e-mail Duane and ask him. PASA is a top notch range with one of its rifle ranges going out to 600 yards.

What are Illnoise's gun importation laws?

Keep the guns in a case and unloaded and out of reach. For a resident with the FOID card; we can have them in a case unloaded but we can have the ammo in the case whether it be a loaded mag or loose ammo.

Always wondered how one would do this on a reg. cab pickup with no locking glove box / console. Zero space behind seats.

Small fast keyed locking hand gun vault for carry gun is easy if needed quickly (closed and locked ) however.

In Ill-noise, if the above is your situation and you're a non-resident (by the grace of GOD) then it needs to be broken down by law...but if you had a gun lock on it that MIGHT qualify...but then again a very few of the Illinois LEO's might still find you in violation so I don't know if I'd take the chance.

This class being in IL is enough to turn me off. Simply the worst state in the union . You can't defend yourself, they helped enable Obama, and is an overall ignorant state.

On come on AFSOC you need to cross the river and watch the animals in the zoo every once in a while...at least just for the motivation of not letting your great State of Missouri slip into the wrong hands. Some of us are trying to tear down the wall you know!....

I will gladly swap you Chicago for St. Louis. My sister lives there (St. Louis) and we're there it seems at least a dozen times a year shopping, visiting and picking up our kids when they're home on leave. The only time I've been up to Chicago was when we were visiting our daughter at the Great Lakes Training Center. Other than that we drive around...

This makes me think of Bill McClellan's "campaign" to get St. Louis city annexed by East St. Louis and made a part of Illinois.

It was all fun and games until he got a bagful of letters from "outstate" Missourians who supported the idea.

Would have been called West East St. Louis.

Seems reasonable to me.

I'm back...since we live 5 minutes from Missouri, my wife and I crossed the outgoing bridge to freedom tonight and went to the 'Brick Oven' in Hannibal. We are celebrating her early retirement after 37 years as an RN with almost 30 of them in the operating rooms of our small city. I would have rather gone to 'Lula Belles' (in Hannibal) but it is of course my wonderful wife's night to pick. There we were sitting and celebrating her chains of employment being loosed (until she gets bored) with my non-resident permit in my wallet, my G23 in my Don Hume and spare mag on the weak side. Then reality sets in and before I know it we're crossing the incoming bridge into the hellish state of Ill-noise. Oh the pain as I sit here and ponder the mere minutes of freedom that the mighty Mississippi separates....woe is me...well kinda...sorry for the blathering....Now what did I start this thread out as?
