New member to this forum. I hope this isnt a repeat. I was wondering if it was legal in Missouri to carry a loaded pistol in car without cc permit?

If you can legally possess the gun and you are 21.

I guess i am a little slow on understanding the rules. from what i gather it is ok, as long as gun is unloaded? Sorry if I sound like an idiot.

It can be loaded and chambered and concealed and  everything.  Follow the link above and read the law itself.

Thaks for the help I was thinking about a carry permit, but mailny want it for car. I work in a bad section of KC, and have had 2 bad experiences on my way home. One was an attempted car jacking , and another was some gangbangers pulled up beside me and flashed a revolver through window toward me.  Just looking for something to get home safely.

Can you specify which parts of KC considered to be "risky"?
My wife may get a job in downtown KC (Town Pavilion). What is the risk assessment of this area (and its surrounding areas)?

Be aware that without CCW, if you step out of the car when you aren't at home (your property is OK to CCW on), forgetting to take off the gun is a crime.

Also, leaving it in the car may lead to it getting stolen, and when you get off work it may likely be too hot to hold if you need it.

Keeping it with you at all times is better.

It depends on how she goes home
I dont think downtown is risky, but my issues were at 23rd and vine and at 55th and prospect, which is a whole different world from town pavilion. I would say if she was instantly on I-70 or anywhere headed north it would be no big deal.

I plan on it being locked in trunk while at work.

I am still debating on getting carry permit.

I put a CCW permit in the same class as firearms, fire extinguishers, and parachutes...It is better to have them and not need them...Than to need them and not have them.

I think your correct. To me its a big move something I want to think out . I am not the type that with gun will go looking for trouble, but without it it seems trouble seems to find me. I been carrying in car withoout knowing for a while but it really bothers me wondering if I was legal. Part of my worries is where I work If SHTF I want a way out without being a Reginold Denny. Nobody is gonna yank me out of my car .

Mousegun:  I think the 21st century is going to prove to be a risky place.  Nobody can be at DEFCON 3 all the time, but for your purposes assume that on average, someone in the KC area is murdered every 3 days.

+1,
Get theCCW its worth it. Not much expense and MANY more options when a gun is in your posession.

OP do you have a gun safe to keep the gun in while at work? Especially when moving said gun from car interior to the trunk.

Go ahead and get the permit; having the permit doesn't mean you have to carry, but you'll be prepared if you should choose to.
