We took the girls to the 3D Avatar last weekend.  I figured the girls would start snoozing before the end of the film since it is 2:40 long.  The couldn't take their eyes off the film and made it through the whole film.

We Loved the action and all of the gun play.  Fun film to go to.

Besides a few bad words here and there the movie is good for kids, minimal blood/gore

Thanks!

If the kids start howling like they wanna see it, then I'll know it isn't too much for them.

I saw it today in IMAX 3d and was amazed and speechless...

This is not your "old school" paper 3d glasses and "Jaws 3D" style of movie.  The colors, scenery, plant life, and graphics were outstanding.  There were several scenes near the edge of a cliff where you could actually see people looking away because of the the graphic detail.  You felt like you were at the edge of the cliff or flying w/the characters, thousands of feet in the air.

I know there's alot of scuttle abt the deeper meanings, etc, but see it for what it is, a new way of watching/feeling a movie.  It's going to be a little tough watching a normal style of movie..

Saw Sherlock Holmes today and the movie just wasn't same.  Should have seen SH before Avatar.

ya, i saw avatar in Imax 3d and it just kicked.  the way the 3d effects blended in was great and there was no "he is just doing this to show off 3d" scenes too.  it has to be the best movie i have seen all year out of the 50 or so i have seen ( i get preview tickets a lot).  the 2nd best i thought was boondock saints II though...i so want to see a 3rd one.

So, are the patron still using the old cardboard blue & red plastic lens "glasses" to get the 3D effects?

the glass's are plastic and look like old man glass's (the ones they where in the sun), very comfortable
