| Well, guys, haven't posted much in the MO forum but I thought this was worthy. My partner and I just received an approval for our license to open a gun store in Goodman. Here's the best part, I am an NRA instructor and we will be teaching CCW classes so I asked the town council for a waiver to setup a range, we have a great location and have the support of the local police, the chief helped me design the range. During the meeting an old lady who comes to the meetings just to complain threatened the city to start a petition to close us down. When she was told it would do no good, she decided she's going to start a petition to stop the waiver for us to have a range. Some people just have too much time on their hands and nothing good to do. Our property is on the edge of town so I suggested to that if they deny the waiver that we may ask to be de annexed. Turns out, that will take a vote of the town and we have to pay for that. Its sad that this lady may end up costing me and the city money out of a foolish and misplaced hatred of something she just doesn't understand. Ok, my rant is over, just had to get that off my chest!! |

Goodman is in McDonald Co as far south and west as you can get in Missouri!! I don't want her to have a heart attack, maybe just acute laryngitis with bouts of amnesia for the next month or so.
Yes, we are doing CCW Classes now, I have 4 of them scheduled over the next 5 weeks. 2 in ash grove, 1 in Sarcoxie, and 1 in Goodman. If you're interested, drop me a line. TDowell |

Old women sometimes suffer from extreme sexual frustration..I suggest you hire an old man to keep her at bay for awhile.Has to be cheaper than the vote anyway..lol I hope it all works out for you.If i can help in anyway please let me know. And i got your message. |

I got a speeding ticket in Goodman once . . . Yeah, you kinda have to watch that, It helps if you live here! Is that still where all puppies come from? Good floating nearby, though. The Elk River is really nice. Yes, there are tons of puppy farms here, so we count on the yearly visit from 20/20, or Dateline, or some other do gooder news magazineshow who comes and tells everyone how Missouri is full of puppy mills and all these poor animals are suffering at the hand of those horrible toothless puppy mill owners!! I have a friend who had a kennel featured on 20/20 a few years ago, they showed up, setup cameras in the road and started doing a report, he went out, invited them in to tour the facility and they declined his request. Next thing you know, he's a "puppy mill" they "Asked for a tour and were denied" and he's "Been under investigation" None of it was even remotely true. That made me loose ALL respect for the network news magazines. They're an absolute joke. Elk River is nice, I highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice weekend of camping and canoeing! A lot of people from KC and NWA come in on the weekends during the season. |

I didn't see anything that made me question how they treat animals. Quite the contrary, in fact. I got more hate mail about that story than any I've ever written. |

Doesn't surprise me, animal rights nuts will never let a little thing like the facts cloud their judgment! |

I grew up in Goodman. My mom is the city clerk. I live 7 miles north now, but would be interested in the range. If you live up by Neosho, there's also the Crowder range, very nice place, worth the trip. If you get a chance, stop in a see us, just stocking up now, we are 1/3 mile south of the light on 59, right behind the U.S Cellular building. |
| Goodman is a pretty town. As kids we floated a lot down there, Elk and Indian rivers I believe they're called. There was also a nice swimming hole in Powel that we went to often. My parents and a lot of old friends still live in Newton county, I'll tell them about your shop. Good luck to ya! How about posting up some pics of the shop? |

Will do, give me a few days to get everything in order. |

I just hate waiting in line to shoot. And some of the people there––thats a whole new story. |
