I just got a Savage Mk II 22lr bolt action rifle.  I'd rather not pay as much to have the barrel cut and threaded for a suppressor as I did for the rifle.  ($130)  Can anyone suggest a shop in KC?

I'd recommend GA Precision but they might not be in your price range.
Under services, they list:

Thread for suppressor (includes thread protector)   $150
Thread muzzle only $105

Might be worth contacting them regardless, especially if you don't get any other recommendations.

Paying for quality machine services is like buying good glass.  You can, and probably should, spend as much as you can up to and even surpassing the cost of the rifle.

Skimping on glass is fixable and you can always sell the cheap scope on down the road.  But skimp on the machine services and it will cost you a BUNCH more to fix it.

You can get it done cheaper and every bit as good as that GAP price, but you are going to have to ship your rifle off somewhere and pay freight both ways.  Plus there's the time that the rifle is out of your hands.  However, if you're standing right there the GAP 'smith might be more inclined to get 'er done quickly.

Shooting the baffles out of your suppressor will make that el cheapo thread job a lot more expensive.

I've got two GA rifles.  I should have added that I don't want to wait months to have it done either.  If nobody else has a suggestion I'll call George and see how fast they can get it done.
