Hey all! Just wanted to let you know I will be hosting an Appleseed event at my place. If you are near by you NEED to attend. Washburn Mo Appleseed Project Sept 26-27 Appleseed Project |

25 meter only event? Doesn't that kinda spoil the purpose of Appleseed? If it's that easy at just 25m you ought to be easily able to earn your Rifleman patch. We look forward to your AAR. Shooting targets at 25 yards that are scaled down to simulate 400 yards isn't the same thing ... for one, I'm not going to re-zero a rifle for 25 yards. And of course there's no adjustment for wind. Sure breathing and trigger control are the same, and I'm sure skills learned at 25 yards will help at 400 ... it's just boring. |
|
LoLz.
Well, go snag that Rifleman patch then. I'm sure you'll bang it out on your first AQT attempt. (And I do agree that windage and figuring up drop is not covered at 25 meters. But, believe me, you learn a ton and your shooting will greatly improve after an Appleseed event. Even if it is at an un-manly 25 meters.) |

I'm not the most seasoned shooter, but I was VERY far from bored at EVERY point of the Appleseed event. And a great part of the event is learning the history and hearing the stories. "Dangerous Old Men" was my favorite story.
And Turbo, Appleseed is NOT High Power/CMP. Appleseed is designed to ensnare the beginning shooter by offering a challenge that can be met with a minimum of gear and prep. Once the hook is set, the real learning begins. And IMO HIgh Power/CMP is boring. Sure it requires a skill set. I'll be sure to call out the HIgh Power shooters the next time I'm attacked by stationary 6 foot wide black dots at known distances. |

I didn't say it was easy, did I? Cross-stitching isn't easy either ...
I've been wanting to do an Appleseed for a long time, the plan was to do it with my Dad ... who lives in SW Mo. I used to play a lot of my little league baseball games in Washburn btw |

Nice redcoat target Eric! If you are interested in attending just sign up and make it. You will benefit as a better shot and you just might learn some HISTORY! As for the distance, the Appleseed I attended at Osage Beach had a 500 yard range. I did not even have time to get over there. I was too busy tweeking my skills knocking out AQT's. If you think shooting a .22lr 25m at a 1" square is not a challenge then I want to see some groups! Come on out or to an Appleseed near you. |

I witnessed an Airman in the USAF shoot a 6... yup that is correct a 6 out of 40 on the M16 AFQC at Basic Training... Uhhhhhhhh.......
That was not me.......I did have to pee like a racehorse on a COLD morning at Lackland though. That concrete was COLD COLD. Going prone with that pressure on my bladder I thought I was going to loose it. I ended up making the "expert", I forget what my score was though. I believe if you scored below a 15 they would make you do it again. A stinking 15! I should have shot a 14 on purpose so I could shoot another 80 rounds or so.... |

That short instructor dude sure loves his surplus Polish (?) army pants. That sounds like Ben. Was he still a smarta#@? He definitely has a way of getting on one's nerves..... Well geez, if you're gonna hold being a smartass against folks, you probably won't like a lot of the rest of us either. |

Well geez, if you're gonna hold being a smartass against folks, you probably won't like a lot of the rest of us either. Oh, don't worry, I do...... He and I just about got into it verbally one time at Osage Beach and he did a pretty good job of ticking several folks off the same weekend. He is passionate about what he does but he needs to calm down and treat people with a bit more respect. He is a bit lacking in the patience department..... |
