OK, trying to plan a few things next year.

I am going to attend an Appleseed shoot and bring along my 10 year old son.
I have been working with him for a while now on marksmanship and I think some outside instruction would be great.

We each have our own 10/22's and AR15's so we are covered for rifles. I will need some ammo loaded up of course.... Always need more of that.

Have any of you been to an Appleseed shoot yet? If so at the Osage Beach location?
Do you think a 10 year old will benefit from the weekend?

Cost is only $70 for me and he would be there no charge, that part sounds good.

Osage Beach days are, April 18 & 19, June 20 & 21, Aug 22 & 23, Oct 24 & 25.

Looks like I will try to attend the June 20 & 21 due to prior commitments.

I have thought about showing up at one of these, I will try to make one next year.
I figure a mix of a .22 and a .223 I should do fine.

I take it that is around the KC area?

Post up when you have some info and/or I'll keep an eye on the Appleseed schedule.

I went to the Osage Beach shoot last year and some of my cadets went this year.  One of mine earned his Rifleman badge last year!  Anyway, this year, it was my only weekend off for the month so I didn't go but I would like to attend another one.  As long as your son can safely handle a rifle, and it fits him, he'll do fine.  Definitely a worthwhile event.  A lot of guys are shooting .22's these days.  I and most of my cadets shot Garands last year but this year most of them shot .22's.  Ammo is expensive!  Be prepared for a lot of history!

Thanks!

Safety is number one with my son. He knows the rules, and follows them well now.
We will bring the 10/22's and AR's to shoot. I already had him read an article in a magazine and see what he thought of that, he said it sounded fun. Now I have to wait for June.... It will come quick as always.

I am VERY interested in attending an Appleseed match at Pioneer!

The only really important question is which rifle to shoot.

I could definitely benefit from this. I may try to make one of the Osage Beach events.
