Didn't know if anyone was going to make it out to the new Bass Pro on 40hwy and MO.291 on Wednesday for the conservation event and the Opening of the store for business on Thursday. JakeT and I will be going to both. On a side note, and I'm pretty sure he was full of it...I was told that Bass Pro was talking obout not carrying reloading equipment or supplies anymore. Please tell me it aint so! I'm looking for something closer than Cabellas, and BP is only 5 minutes down 40hwy from me. |
The one at 119th and i-35 doesn't sell much metallic cartridge reloading supplies. |
| Bass Pro lost my business when they explained their policy against selling tactical firearms... They won't sell AR-15s, carbines or pretty much anything with Tactical in the name. But the will sell a Remington Marine Mag... I'll stick to Olathe Gun Shop just down i-35. |
Well, that just sucks. I wish I could stick with something local. The only thing I have even remotely close is Crossfire/Arms Mart. Wich is actually just fine for powder and primers (when they have primers). But all they stock for 9mm bullets are Nosler and the like. I can actually nearly buy a box of WWB 9mm cartriges for the price of 100 of their Nosler FMJRN bullets.
|
| That sounds like a plan. I think in the end I'm going to end up buying an aftermarket barrel for my G35 so I can shoot lead (without everyone at the range telling me I'm going to blow up my gun) and start shooting bullets from missouribullet.com. he's got good prices and he's relatively close. He even offered to detour on his way home from work to Blue Springs to give me a 100 pack to try out. I'll pay for it of course. I don't want anyone thinking he's giving bullets away. |

I WON'T be going! The little flyer I received in the mail had nothing in it. On the front, it was printed "Sale ends Feb. 28". What sale? They didn't have anything listed for sale! Geez, and I was hoping they'd have something I'd want to buy like when the one in Olathe opened up (S&W .22, $150). Sorry, no such luck. |
I live in Bass Pro's hometown and it's very rare I darken their doors. I wish there was a Cabellas closer than KC ![]() Rick SGF, Mo. |

I have been less than impressed with Bass Pro. Granted, I saw Cabela's first, so that probably made me a bit biased. I was in Springfield a few years ago buying a handgun from a forum member, and stopped by the one there, which I think is The One? Very small collection of handguns, and as mentioned, nothing tacticool at all. Very tiny reloading section. Fast forward a few years, the one in Olathe isn't too bad, but if I'm going to drive all the way over to Kansas, I'll spend the extra time and gas to go on up to Cabela's. Not only do they have a far superior selection of both guns (even if overpriced, and poor things are beat to hell) and reloading supplies, but the company and employees seem to appreciate us gunners. Bass Pro doesn't seem to share that attitude. (But, I've only been to bass a couple times.) I will probably drop by the new store to check them out eventually, cause it is a bit closer to me than the others, but I am not expecting much... |
| I was at the new BP last night. My wife got a part time job and they had a friends and family night (25% name brand, 40% off of any thing BP branded, redhead ect..). I must say I did not get a chance to see much due to all of the people. Every one was given 6 tickets to give out. People were coiming in off the street, They just let them come in and shop with the rest of us and even gave them the same disc. I don't get a disc. on ammo or guns and to many people to look around so I didn't stay to long. |
Same here |

Good of this thread to pop back up, forgot all about it. I went out there Friday, and they did infact have metallic reloading supplies, for anyone interested. Too many people clogging up the isles so I didn't get a good look at prices however. It's weird how Olathe has no metallic reloading supplies, but Indep. has plenty. |

A friend and I went out there last Saturday. Place was insanely packed, and cars were parked all the way back to friggin 40 highway?! wtf.....we realized that the parking lots aren't finished yet, so that partially explained the messed up parking situation. But still, it's the SECOND BPS in the area, what's the big deal? They got strippers in there or something? |
I was in the olathe store last weekend, I was near by so I stopped in. They do have powder and a few other reloading components. Polytech |
Ah, good to know for those weekend 'Oh shit, I only have 12 (insert bullet that the next day's shoot is depending on) left! zomg must resupply! |
Must be newish. When I asked about it shortly after opening, cuz I couldn't find it myself. The guy refered me to a section of shotgun reloading stuff(shot/wads/etc) and said thats all they had. |
|
Ya, it's ok in case of an emergency. They have some rifle, shotgun and pistol powder, bullets and primers. Not a lot mind you. And I'm not paying F'ing $18 dollars for 100 hornady 115gr FMJ 9mm bullets. Sheesh, those guys think their stuff is made of gold or something. I did talk to the manager, however. He said that if we, meaning the local shooting public, inform him of what we want and need, they WILL expand that section. If we make them feel they can sell it, he assured me they WILL stock it. But we need to get pro-active. Everyone needs to go up there and ask them to carry their favorite components and turn in customer care cards. DO IT, DO IT NOW, I'M TIRED OF DRIVING TO CABELLA'S!
|
I also did some talking to BP manager's when I went to eat lunch with the wife. They said that ther don't have a lot of people looking for Ar's or they just don't ask about them. They seem to think that it could be done. I think that getting parts and a few other odds & end would be nice. But who would want to pay the BP price for an Ar? |
| I think people would be more interested in the used prices. Which don't seem to be too horrible. I kick myself for not picking up a little used 10/22 with a scratch in the stock for $115 on opening night. Oh well. I'm more interested in reloading supplies and used pistols. |
