Don't lecture me on safety, I'm well aware of my backstop in this instance Went out and shot some mistletoe this afternoon. Most people don't realize mistletoe actually does exist, and the popular, and most practical harvesting method is with a .22lr or a shotgun. Mistletoe is a parasitic evergreen plant that lives off of the top oak trees in certain climates. The only place It grows here is southern Missouri and Kansas. From a distance they look like squirrel nests, only are green. Something my family has always done, and we have a spot that has abundant mistletoe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

For years it was our family tradition to shoot down a Christmas tree. It all started the first year we made it out to the field without a saw (think Christmas Vacation). Well, in my formidable years, my Dad always had a firearm with him. In this case, it was a .30 Carbine. Thus started a long tradition of shooting down the Christmas tree. Ahh, the memories.
