Reading of Duke just getting back from vacation reminds me of my own annual upcoming vacation plans.

I'm planning my vacation for the fall.  Unfortunately my vacations are almost always physically draining, though mentally refreshing.  I work (volunteer) at SCCA Club races and this week will be spent at the National Championship Club Races held on the road race course at Heartland Park Topeka.  I will most likely be working the whole time on a rollback tow truck (tilt-bed) dragging back the carcasses of broken-ass racecars that the spoiled children have wrecked.  That is, when I'm not sleeping the day away in the truck waiting for the next odd radio call from the tower.

"Control to Rollback 1",
"Rollback one, copy",
"Rollback one, how many cars can you fit on your truck at once?",
"Control, uhh, 2 maybe 3",
"Okay, at the end of this session please go out to corners 4, 5 & 6 and pick up as many as you can",
"Roger".

Oh, and of course mass quantities of Boulevard beer will be consumed, along with lots of hot coffee on those cold October mornings.

I love my vacations.  At least I don't have to drive far to get to them.

Anyone else got vacation plans they want to share?

Eric,

Your plans don't seem to include any sort of hook up for a little something something with a hot little parking lot attendant.

I even read between the lines and somehow I missed it.

or...is every night just a Mobil One soaked orgy at the RV's?

Wesson oil?

I'm fairly certian there's oil involved

Since Mel had to use her vacation sitting with me in the hospital, we will be using labor day weekend as our vacation.
Plan on driving up and seeing Mt. Rushmore,  possibly Devils Tower.

Now what to do with all my vacation time...
Maybe I can go putter around in the MTNF for a week or two.

I will be doing a week of vacation second week of september.  Plans include a few days out in Colorado, couple days at the range, a night at a show of a band I want to see.  Should be good, and I too really need some time away from everything.

Vacation?  What is this vacation you speak of?  Not this year unfortunately, as I've just started a new job and don't get any of this "vacation" for the next year.

Don't I wish, and there are quite a few hotties running around the track.  Unfortunately most of the wimmings that attend these events are either already taken, someone's teenage kid or older than Methuselah.    There are a available few gals that seem to "make their way around the club", but I ain't goin' down that well-travelled road.

And damned if eharmony ain't mega expensive these days too.

You're going to bed too early!

Just tough it out. I've heard somewhere that the girls get very attractive later on

BaNo, it wasn't cheap.  Air fair to Chicago and Calgary, rental car to Canmore and a hour drive to the heliport.  Then the helicopter flight to a very rustic lodge operated by the BC parks.  Plus two nights lodging in Canmore.  $5000+ for two for a week.   Would I do it again?  Oh yeah!!
