| Just a shot in the dark but are there any Mo. arfcommers/MoDCC folk planning to be at the "Mudfest" (Near Union off of 44) tomorrow? I just want to know if I should keep an eye out for anyone there. |

It's nothing like it was the first year or two (so I heard). They no longer allow alcohol and thoroughly search every vehicle that enters. Paramedics and off-duty cops are present at the event. The family and staff do not tolerate any BS and kick quite a few people out during the day. They spend over half to 3/4 of their revenue that day just to pay for the 8 hrs of liability insurance. They'll have another one in late September.......it's a fun time. |

Well, I went but I didn't. I drove out there. arrived about 12:30 and saw te line to get in. A line like I have never before seen in my life. It was at least 2-3 miles long blocking the road for anyone just passing through. (I came in the back way, right up the the entrance but to get in line I had to drive pat everyone else facig the opposite direction). I had a friend already in there so I called him, he got there at 10:30 and it took him an 1 1/2 hours to get in. I have seen aerial photos of the place and for the life of me I can't see how they could park that many folk much less have room for playing in the mud. So, I gave up. Me and the two young'uns that were with me (both 21yrs, I am an old fart) decided to go back home, load up the quad and go to St. Joes instead. Even though we had to drive all over the damn place for hours we still ended the day having a good time playing around off road. Oh, I also taught them both how to use a manual transmission, I done learnt the with the jeep. Max-Paul try this link. www.buchananmudfest.com |

Thanks Gary, looks like fun if you like loud trucks, and lots of mud. Well at least now I know what it is. Dang, thought it was some big boobed gals fighting in the mud with sometimes loss of clothing. Now that would be worth the lines and the 10 bucks along with the 5 dollars for a bottle of water. Not for drinking but washing off of the mud on the gals. |

GaryM........ Man, stay away from St. Joe's. That place is dangerous! Do you know how many people get seriously injured or killed in that park every year? At least Mudfest has courses, lines, or some sort of order to it. St. Joe's is just a gigantic free for all with people shooting in every direction and all kinds of different speeds. If you're going to go there, do it on a weekday morning or something where there aren't as many people. Ride in pairs because if one of you gets hurt in the back in the woods it's gonna be hours before anyone finds you. I was on one accident where it took over two hours to get the guy to the ambulance since he was so far back in the park. He rolled down an embankment and they ended up using a boat to transport him to the main part of the park. Be damn careful in that park. |
Last year when I went, we had to wait in line for about 40min....and we thought that was bad. This year we ended up waiting in line for about 2hrs before we got in. It was insane....but we drove 3hrs to get there, so we decided to stay and just wait it out. It was a great time........plenty of rednecks there |
