I have a full lower sitting in the safe that is screaming to have something put on it.  Am considering putting some type of 9mm SBR on it.  Since my one year anniversary of EBR is coming up next month, I am still learning, still new at some stuff.  I realize I will have to get a new hammer for the lower.  I will also have to get a mag block to convert the magwell.  The buffer will have to be replaced with a 9mm buffer.  I will buy the full upper in the very near future.  Is there anything else I am going to need besides 9mm mags?   Any advice on certain components as to one brand over the other in regards to the mag block?

As for the SBR, I know I have to get the forms, fill them out, get the sheriff to sign off on them, and pay the extra $200 for the tax stamp.  I believe that I have to have some type of engraving done on the lower receiver, is this correct?

Sorry for the noobish questions, but am entering new territory.  If there is anything else I am missing or you have previous experience/advice, please educate me.

I'd like to do the same thing.  I'm more of an AK guy but would love to have an AR 9mm

I just built a SBR 9mm w/a 5" upper.  I'll have pics soon.  Will this be a dedicated 9mm lower? Some of the most popular mag blocks are Hahn and Hy-tech.  the Hahn's use colt style mags or modified uzi mags and allow you to use the factory bolt release.  The Hy-tech allows the use of reg uzi mags and has a seperate mag release.

you won't necessarity need a new hammer unless your's has a notch in it.  There's some great info at the 9mm FAQ's:

Several vendors have 9mm uppers complete for 450.00 ish

Don't forget that in MO you need some sort of FFL. A Curio and Relics works. $30.00 for 3 years.Worth it for dealer discounts alone You can then purchase some C&R guns for yourself...Side note, I just sbr-ed a 9mm AR,surprisingly,no problem in STL city.Great gun,fun to shoot...
