This question might be better suited to the Utah forum but I thought I'd start here anyway ... My Utah CCW permit arrived in the mail today after what seemed like a long time (2.5 months anyway) and in along with the permit was a letter with this verbiage: "...this permit is valid contingent on a satisfactory criminal history report being received by the FBI." Now, I can tell you all with confidence that the above won't be an issue or I wouldn't have applied for the permit. However, what happens if LE calls in to Utah to verify validity during a routine traffic stop? Will they tell them it's not official? If so, why send the permit ahead of time? Do I need to wait for a second letter from Utah saying that the finger prints were OK? Seems kinda silly to go ahead and issue ... Anyone? |

your good to go. everyone who goes utah gets that. the way it was explained to me was like this. Utah is basically saying "were pretty sure your an ok dude and we checked it out. We'll let you know if we need that licence back. Have fun and dont shoot yourself." Dont worry about it. its the official one. |

OK, that's what I thought but you never know. If I hadn't asked the question, I'd have been confronted by an LEO within the first 20 steps I took outside my vehicle and ended up in trouble. I guess you have Utah as well? How long did it take before you got yours? The guy that gave our CCW class lead us to believe we'd have it back in about 45 days. Nope! |
