| On April 23 the 7th annual Midwest SWAT championships were held. I attended and watched for a couple of hours. I was curious if anyone knew what departments were represented, and what teams placed and so on. Thanks for any info. |

This doesnt really give ya a "list" of what departments were represented but you can kinda get an idea from the placing of indivudals/teams. Here is the final standings i found posted. I am kinda shocked to be honest from some of the results. Results Individual Competition First place: Carl Blad, Minneapolis (Minn.) Police Department Second place: Capt. Tom Dresner, Columbia Police Department Third place: Sgt. Lance Robbins, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Fourth place: Detective Doug Parsons, Columbia Police Department Fifth place: Officer Kevin Moroney, Columbia Police Department Four-man team First place: North Kansas City Police Department Second place: Columbia Police Department team #1 Third place: Columbia Police Department team #2 Two-man team First place: Doug Parsons and Kevin Moroney, Columbia Police Department Second place: Mitch Brim and Andy VanMearhaeghe, Shawnee Police Department Third place: Ron Fowlkes and Jim Mowry, St. Louis City Police Department |
Where did you find the final standings posted? I have them in MS Excel format, but hadn't seen them posted anywhere yet. Also, why are you "kinda shocked" from some of the results? Care to elaborate? No offense intended, I'm just curious about your viewpoint. |
| Found them on the Missourians newspaper web page. About being shocked, well lets just say that the CPD doesn't inspire a lot of confidence from me. The guys that i know that work there are good LEO's (well most of them anyway lol) so dont take that the wrong way. |
| I've been on a ride-along with the CPD STAR team curtesy of Tom Dresner. They let me observe two high-risk warrant executions. From what I saw they do just fine in the field, and are very professional. Its amazing to see 12 guys go through a door in just a couple of seconds without anybody sweeping anyone else with a subgun muzzle. |
