I live in Independence Missouri, and there are several fire arms stores in my area. I go to Admires in Lee's Summit. He shoots an honest deal and has integrity. He stands behind what he sells even when the manufacturer won't. His prices are also very reasonable, usually 15% over what he paid for it. Who do you trust and recomend in your area? |

Well, in the KC area, Denny's Guns has had some of my business, as had one of the shops up in Kearney, MO ... don't remember what its called offhand, but its in that little strip-mall just of I-35, going towards the old part of town. Around here, Smokey Acres Trading Co (between Rolla and St James) is good, and also the only true "gun shop", the other choices are wallyworld, and a half-dozen pawn shops, plus an "outfitter" who shares shop space with a tombstone manufacturer and only sells overpriced browning shotguns. |

Mikes Guns in St. Charles. Used to be Kevins guns. Lots of evil type rifles, very good prices and will order for a fee. Dunns sporting goods in Cave Springs, good selection of civilian type guns, knowledgable staff. Grafs in St. Charles, a bit pricey but the only place in town for reloading supplies. |
AeroE: Get off I-44 at 63 South (I think that's exit 184, maybe 186, don't remember which)....follow that to 10th street, make left, 10th turns into highway BB, and Smokey Acres is about 15 minutes out of town....you'll see a radio tower (although I've heard thats going to come down in the near future) and come to a very sharp S in the road, the shop is on the right immedietly after the turn. There's a sign on the gate. IIRC, he's only open from 3-8pm wed - friday, and 9am - 3pm saturdays (his shop is located right next to his house, and he'd been running the shop as a 2nd/weekend job). He's usually got one or two bushmasters in there, and a decent selection of 22s...a half dozen lever actions, maybe a dozen various bolt-guns, and maybe a dozen shotguns...plus various revolvers & other handguns. Being a small shop, and given the location (small towns) its hard for him to keep a large inventory, but he's been very good to work with as far as ordering stuff. Oh yeah, and $20 transfers |

I know exactly where it's located, thanks. My favorite is Graf's in St. Charles; I have to tell you, it's not that their prices are any higher than any where else, you just have to deal on the price, and don't use a credit card. Same holds at Dunn's, but you have to talk to Greg Dunn, not the employees. I bought several guns at Kevin's - he had a great deal going, he charged $30 over his cost for guns less than $1000! Bought my first AR there. Mike's has a good inventory. |

Just discovered Bob's Gun Shop just outside of Jeff City in St. Martins, MO... Went by just as he was closing, so I only got a peek at his selections... WOW, he has over 400 new, used, and antique guns on display... over 950 knives, too... Prices beat Bogg's Creek... Might pick me up a FAL there...

For selection and quantity the best I've seen in the Middle is Ozark Armory in Lincoln,Mo. He has ClassIII license and does alot of LEO work. Think that is how he manages to stay open as the prices are high. In Sedalia Vinson's Gun & Pawn. Small store but good guys there and will negotiate price. Shawnee Mound (I think), it's north of Clinton on 13hwy about 10 miles on west side of road. Also good people and will negotiate price. |
| i go to a mom and pop type store out side tohmpson, bulls eye guns and ammo. it one of my freinds cousin trying to make a go of it i do all my stuff from him he doesnt have it in stock but has no problems ordering anything i want, he hands me the catalogs and tells me pick and he will order it. i usually just call and leave him a message and then pck it up on a weekend. FanoftheBlackRifle- I live in Rolla and have only been here a few months. Do you know of a good place to shoot? I haven't shot a dang thing since I moved here because I don't know where to go. I can go over to FLW, but don't really want to mess with it. I work for Army ROTC at UMR. Thanks for any response! |

Cutter, Listen closely, DO NOT buy anything else from Boggs. Those prices are outrageous. I don't even want to know whqt you spent on the Bushmaster. The one or two ARs they do have are usually about $2-300 overpriced! Plus, those guys are the grumpiest old men in town. I hate that place. Bob's Guns is okay. Rich is a nice guy, so I buy targets and little stuff from him, but his prices usually suck. He does have a good deal every once in awhile though(EG Makarov for $150). If you want a FAL, don't pay $600 for his Century built junk. That's nuts. Go to www.falparts.com and order a M-444 for $675 delivered do a transfer through Bill Wright at: Missouri Boulevard Pawn and Gun. Bill Wright is a GREAT guy. His place is not much to look at, but he has a few nice guns. But, he will do transfers for $10 and he's real cool about it. I just call him up and tell him what I'm ordering and he says "see you in a few days". No problem. If you really want a Century FAL, he has a FFL at AIM. They have it for like $400 or so. Or, email me for info. about building one. I have most of the tools and have done one already. Later, Ken |

Thanks, Ken... I replied to your email, and have had the same warnings given regarding Century FALs... I will check out www.falparts.com... or get you to build one for me... sounds like a fun way to spend a weekend... or two... In fact some buddies in Dallas said I'd be better off building one... ![]() ______________________ The 2nd Amendment - the original homeland security bill... If in the Sedalia area try Osage Thrift Shop. I have continually priced the difference between them and Vinson's G&P. So far Osage averages $50.00 cheaper on new firearms. Vinson's prices on used seem a long ways from reasonable. Also, Osage has very competitave prices on reloading supplies despite lack of competition. Unless you buy in bulk from Sierra Bullits or Starline Brass (both here in Sedalia) no one else has supplies to roll your own. In Columbia try The Powder Horn. |
