looking forward to shooting these! Good stuff Tim, both these things are going to be a hoot! It looks like we're going to have a great turnout from the ARFCOM ranks. I've heard from several of you who are planning to help with and/or shoot the carbine match. It will be great to see everyone at the range this Fall! |

I wonder who will RO? David , count me in as a RO if you will let me boss Lenard around.
You got it Tony! Lenard will be your lackey for the day! Silly me , I forgot Lenard beat me last match so now I have to be his lacky for the day. Damm , I really need to shoot better. Trust me , being Lenards lacky is NOT a good thing!

Tony, if you want, I'll come out of retirement for David's match and spank Lenard for you. Eric , Part of me wants to say yes , yes Then part of me says , Dang , you did not really just say that ! ME , need help in spanking Lenards butt!! Sad days indeed , sad days
Get your apt in and do come play w/ us , heck maybe we can even get Brent to come !! |

I have never shot a match before. Is this a match for me? The match is friendly to new shooters but it is important that you know how to safely and efficiently operate your rifle. There are 7 scenario based stages. Two will have 10" steel targets (flash targets) from 100-300yds. The other 5 will have cardboard targets from close up to around 25yds. Send me a PM or e-mail if you have questions. |

Can you shoot in more than one? I take it tactical optics is something like Aimpoints, EOtechs, or acogs? Can you shoot tactical optics and tactical irons? Optic examples are those you indicate above and also include low power variables. Explanation of the gear, categories etc is on the website (check out the OP for the link) It's a pretty full day of shooting with one rifle. There won't be time to shoot two rifles. Only the manliest of men can shoot a 30-06 |

so i guess any .30 caliber greater than a 7.62x39? So, an AK falls under tactical? Heavy Metal class (optics or irons) is basically 308. Most people shoot AR-10, FN FAL, M1A type rifles in Heavy Metal. Aaron shoots a Garand in 30-06 but he is.......shall we say "special" 223, 7.62x39, 300 Blackout, 6.5 Grendel etc are all Tactical Class calibers. |

No bueno on the 1st match for me. The second one however I'm free to attend and really excited to see what it will be like. Kelly, we'll miss you for the Carbine Championship but look forward to seeing you in November for the Precision Challenge. Guys, don't let the target distances scare you off from trying out the Precision Challenge. If you've got a 308 bolt rifle or gas gun you will be able to hit the targets. An AR 15 with 69's or 77's will also be competitive. We are planning to have a couple of practice days on weekends prior to the match to gather and confirm dope as well as practice different shooting positions. Feel free to IM or e-mail me if anyone has questions on this match. |

I have applications in for both. I have never shot a tactical precision match. So I am not completely sure what to expect. No worries, we are planning a couple of "train up" days on the weekends leading up to the match. It'll be a good opportunity to practice, get dope for your rifle and wring out your gear. There will be a small range use fee and all registered shooters will be welcome to come. The Carbine Championship is full but still slots remaining for the Precision Rifle Challenge. Check the Steel City website later this week to see all the sponsors who are supporting the Precision Challenge. |

don't think of them as matches. Think of them as controled range trips with your buddies. You get to hang out and shoot. Then when they nail a no shoot you get to raz them for the next year. Kinda like the Iron Bowl when Auburn looses to Bama again. |

Just put Arfcom for a squad. It's better that way, that way we don't hinder the real competitors. Quoted:

For the Precision match any idea David of a round about round count for rifle? I may need to load some more. Round count not final for the precision match but plan on 100ish rifle and 75 or so pistol. Probably wont need quite that many, but...... Scott has agreed to run down range and paste all the 500yd+ rifle targets between shooters. Seeing that should be reason enough to come shoot the match |
