Hopefully somebody will re-think the pistol bullseye and PPC range that is in the draft plan.  Those are two utterly and completely dead sports.  The place needs a few action pistol bays.

Glad to see that land is going to be used for this purpose.

No ranges have been layed out yet... I just listed all the ranges that "could" be placed into the master plan...  On first blush we are looking at 10 or more tactical pistol bays....

There seems to be a complete change of shooting sports from yesteryear.....

good news then, that can attract some competitive shooters, the old sports will not...

glad to see this project getting started, I was afraid the good old boy politics of that "commission" controlling the land in Tallaedga Co. would never see this as a worthy cause...

this would be a great venue for a major USPSA match and DT1's tactical carbine match some day

I have been working this project for 2 years now on a up hill struggle... But after the public hearings on the 20th and 27th we go into the master planning phase and then work on the grant money.  Hopefully 18 month to 2 years and we shall be sending lead down range...

Sounds pretty exciting to have  a place like this in the backyard!  I talked to Dennis on the phone and it sounds like he's looking to build it right and with input from the end users.

I think this is a great idea!
It is really hard to be a shooter/hunter and only have access to 100 yard ranges.

Thanks for what you are doing!

This is a full public range project...  It is in a public park...  any and all can shoot here....

oh cool.  so will be free to shoot there?

No,  there will be a range fee yet to  be determined..

But it will not require you to be a member of the complex in order to shoot.  It is a park that has a park authority board that runs it for the cities of Talladega and Lincolin.   It will have to generate funds for operation as it is not funded by the taxpayers..
