My dad was involved in an accident yesterday and his 98 2 Door Tahoe is being disposed of. Do you guys know any Pull-a-Part or Salvage yards that would be interested in paying for this vehicle? Has newish AC system and new transmission and new engine with 20k miles on it. It's currently at the tow yard racking up charges so we're trying to dispose of quickly. Thanks for any recommendations on how to get some money out of this thing

FYI - it was old and paid for, so it only had liability, no other coverage.

Don't know about AL, but around here, most yards will take just about anything.

If you have a place to do it, I'd strongly recommend pulling the engine and trans., selling them on Craigslist or something, and selling the rest of the truck to a salvage yard for scrap weight. Places like Pull-A-Part generally don't pay very much for their parts cars, which is how they keep their prices competitive.

If you have paperwork for the engine/trans, you could probably get decent money for them. It costs about $1500-$2000 to have a 4L60E rebuilt, and EVERY GM truck of that age will need to have it done at least once.

Thanks everyone for the input. Probably could've gotten more if I had pulled it myself and pieced it out, but ending up just selling it. After looking at it, the engine integrity was questionable, and frame was shot, but the tranny may have still been good. Either way, we were just ready to put it behind us. Thanks again everyone!
