Finally, someone has stepped up and is starting a new gun club and indoor range here in Auburn. One of my friends whose from Auburn handed me a card for it just the other day and told me to check it out. He said he knew the owners and they've done business with them in the past and they're good guys. From the website it says that theres going to be a 40,000sq/ft indoor gun range and "Auburn Armory and Gun Club will have at least two NRA Certified Instructors on staff, with guest instructors from time to time to cover specialized training and tactics." Im just glad I will have some place to shoot rather than driving out to Tuskegee to shoot and having a FFL/Class III dealer in the same shop. Check them out if you live in the area here

I wonder if this Charlie is the guy that is seen at some of the gun shows and on Gunbroker selling stuff as "Checkpoint Charlie"?
He was from Auburn if I remember correctly. I am glad to see something like this coming up, just as long as it doesn't get overrun with mall ninjas.

Checkpoint Charlie's is actually the store I do my FFL transfers with now...the Auburn Armory is going to be run by another set of folks. But Charlie is a great guy to do business with and he knows his shit. He's more of a Class III dealer rather than a storefront now and I believe that come early fall, we will be deployed overseas so there goes the one good shop here in Auburn/Opelika until Auburn Armory is completed.

A indoor range is nice and is always welcome, but there are somethings you cann't do at an indoor range that you can do at an outdoor range. Having said that you should really check out theEAGUNCLUB.COM

Hey guys,
My name is Andy, founder and part owner of Auburn Armory. Charlie Edwards is my business partner, his business Checkpoint Charlies will be absorbed into Auburn Armory when the new range is open.  We are not building just another 'indoor range', were spending over $2 Million dollars to change the entire concept of indoor ranges altogether.  We will offer an interactive shooting gallery in addition to our static line ranges. The only thing you wont do at our range that is possible outdoors, is take shots in excess of 100 yards.  We will have 6 lanes in our fully controlled environment 100yard indoor line, you will achieve a cold bore zero that is so perfect, it simply cannot be duplicated outdoors. We will also have sixteen lanes @ 25yds with traps that can handle pistol as well as rifle rounds. We are saving lots of good stuff for the Grand Opening this fall. Tell your friends, and take our survey located on our website Auburn Armory dot com. See you Fall 2011! - AH

This is great news. I live in Auburn on HWY 14 near Loachapoka and every time I goto the Uchee range, it is completely full of shooters. I will be looking forward to your opening.
