Going to be making a trip to Alabama (Covington Co.) to do some hunting in a couple weeks over the holidays and was wondering what the regs are on guns, i.e. caliber size and magazine limit.  I only ask because I usually hunt with a bolt .308 but have recently put together a 6.8 AR for hogs and was thinking about using it.

Thanks

I think it is a mag limit of 5. Maybe the hunters will chime in

I believe the only ammunition limits are for wildlife management areas.  As far as I've been able to tell all state regulations do not have ammo limits for hunting with rifle type ammo.

See page 11.

Because there is a limit on Migratory bird hunting and because there is no limit specified for deer hunting on the same page I do not believe there is a limit on ammo for hunting deer per the Alabama State Hunting Regulations.

I have however seen different ammo regulations on WMA web sites such as the Cahaba WMA.  See page 2.  See the "PERMITTED FIREARMS AND BOW AND ARROW" section.

No limit unless you are on a wildlife management area.
