Anyone else got any insight? Thinks this years the year, or no way no how? ETA: For those how don't know what I'm talking about. It is Rep. Richmonds (D-101) yearly AWB attempt... |

Posted this earlier in GD but its already on page 3 or 4. Email I sent earlier tonight.
Representative Henry, I am an active duty member of the Navy from your district. I am currently stationed out of the state but I DO maintain my voter registration in your district and I pay LA state taxes. I would like to bring your attention to House Bill 387 sponsored by Cedric L. Richmond (D-101). This absurd bill needs to be stopped. I read the text of the bill on the State Legislature website and I could not get past the 1st paragraph before finding blatant anti-gun propaganda. “Semiautomatic assault weapons are military style guns designed to quickly kill large numbers of people. The shooter can simply point, rather than carefully aim, the weapon to quickly spray a wide area with a hail of bullets.” This is intellectually dishonest and nothing more than propaganda. These guns are owned by large numbers of law abiding citizens for legal purposes such as hunting, competitive target shooting, and self/home defense. As a passionate sportsman, member of the armed services, and a tax paying/VOTING member of your district I will not tolerate any further restrictions of our rights. I will remind you that we have a God given right to self defense that is both recognized and protected by the 2nd amendment. I hope you will do your part to prevent HB 387 from becoming law. Let’s keep it “The Sportsman’s Paradise”. Thank You. Sincerely |

Bobby had an A+ rating from the NRA while in congress. To my knowledge, has never voiced support for an AWB. If you can show me differently , please do !
I ,for one ,do not make light of this. I am not willing to give up anymore liberties nor keep quiet about the ones we have already lost. A Patriot |

I too would like to know how he gets this same Bill out every year! Each year I write a nice long email to all committee members involved explaining the ignorance and/ or stupidity of all the little points plus the flat out lies. Many Representatives have replied with emails saying they fully support the right to keep and bear arms and will not vote for it. Each year it goes down, but damn... you keep wondering how long will it continue?
Cedric L. Richmond is the author each and every year. It says on http://house.louisiana.gov/H_Reps/members.asp?ID=101 that he was elected in 1999 and his final eligibility is 2008 (three term limit of four years each). So, I guess we'll have to endure this crap for a little while longer until he's gone for good. Anyway, please know that many are VERY against this and again, I think it won't go anywhere. However, it really is a pain in the ass that it keeps coming up year after year with simiply a subtle change here or there. Mark |
