St. Clair is pretty NFA friendly,
And you have a couple of great dealers to choose from (Bill McDonald and Jerry Bell)

In case you are bringing NFA into AL, no SBS or SBR allowed :-(
MG, Silencers and AOW are good to go

They are all friendly if you own one....If you are purchasing one, Birmingham is Friendly. I live in Tuscaloosa, and have been told by the gun stores around here(tuscaloosa) that the Sherrif won't sign off on the forms(Though I haven't tried so if anyone has and got it approved let me know). However, I used to live in jefferson county(birmingham) and Mike Hale(sherrif) signed off on them. In fact I walked in hand the secretary the form she went in his office and came back out with it signed before I could even take a seat.

I would read up on the Jefferson County Sewer corruption before you decide on a house in Jefferson County (Bham).

Do NOT move to Jefferson Co. or you will be paying for shit that happened long before you got here...insert sewer rant here...Trust me I know. I moved to JeffCo in '04 and have been paying for somebody elses stupidity ever since. Also read up on the illegal Jefferson Co. occupational tax you'll get charged until they get their shit together. You'll get screwed in JeffCo.

Thanks for all the advice - was wondering if Shelby county be a wise decision in terms of NFA and buying a house.  would consider a property that will be close enough to Birmingham, but "escaping" the horror (sewer)

Shelby county is great.  The only thing that sucks about Shelby is if you have to still drive to work in Birmingham.  Of course traffic or a long drive can be an issue from any direction around Bham.

Shelby has good schools and good government.  As far as I know all counties surrounding Jefferson are NFA friendly.

I would try North Shelby, St Claire, and Blount counties.

I live in South Jeff Co.  We're on septic.  Of course we may be hit with a non user fee from Jeff co Sewer when it goes bankrupt.

If you have questions on specific areas or traffic on roads please feel free to ask.

We will NEVER be hit with that fee.  I promised that to all of you last time, and I promise it AGAIN.  I repeat: the so-called "non-user fee" will NEVER happen.  NEVER!

Yes - have a job at Birmingham..  with a branch of the federal gov, just waiting for paperwork to get approved from DC (I guess)

In that case I'd suggest Shelby County.  If you move to Hoover you can be in downtown BHM in a matter of 15 minutes if the traffic is ok.  Are you looking to get an apartment at first or go straight for a house?
