I recently acquired a Colt Double Eagle Officers .45. On the slide is engraved Clark Custom, Keithville La. 71047. Does anyone have any info on this? I searched the web and only came up with a little info. If anyone can help with a guess at the value, and what may hae been done to the gun I would appreciate it. |

I am no expert on the Clark Custom Family, but they have been around for years, founded by Jim Clark Sr..... I believe the original location for the shop was Keithville, LA.....I belive they have since moved to Princeton, LA. The phone number is 888-458-4126.... Try Google, "Clark Guns" and it will give you their website... I will say, from what I know, the Clark is a highly desirable pistol, especialy if it was done my Clark, Sr, which according to the name and loaction on your slide, was more than likely one of Sr.'s builds.... This is what I "think" I know, I hope it helps. 77 |

Thats correct. The Keithville location was the old location when Jim Sr was still alive. The Princeton location is thier current location. Run by Jim Jr. My father used to heat-treat parts for Jim Sr back in the day. I met him a number of times before he passed. Side note. My father had 2 of Jim SRs 1911s. One was a Colt, the other, and Ithica. Both were some of the first "custom" 1911s that Mr Jim did. Sadly, they were both stolen from my fathers house on a B&E before I was born. Man, I would really like to still have those 2 in our family. |
They closed their retail store in Bossier City a few months ago. Kay Clark Miculek ran it. It probably was so they could focus on competing. The custom shop out in Princeton where the guns are made is still fine as far as I know. Jim Clark Jr. runs it. I doubt they would shut that down anytime soon. |
